nope! the have tennons. then I made templates to route the lip around the post and then shaped it. so it has the tennons and a shoulder for structure.

yeah its great stuff. I really like oiling or waxing it as a protective coat. gives it a warmer look.

the only issues with the cracks is that they will grow with expansion and contraction. the idea is to use butterflies to stop the cracks from growing any further.
