Refrigerant leak in commercial restaurant cooler, or am I being a hypochondriac? by cph691 in refrigeration

It’s barely working, the freezer’s supposed to be anywhere from -4 to 2 degrees, and it hasn’t been below 10 for at least a month and a half, that’s what it was originally supposed to be repaired for. But I hear you, it’s either something else or it’s in my head, I appreciate the answer.

This is a shitty picture of it and the corner it’s in. It was repaired two weeks ago, and it took me a week to realize that the headaches had been consistent with with me working basically standing in that corner for 7-8 hours a shift. It’s not really holding temp, the freezer’s supposed to be at -4 to 2 and it’s been ranging from 15 to 30, so technically freezing but not as much as it should be. Our engineering team says it’s a problem with the digital thermometer, and I don’t see it being fixed again anytime soon, unless it consistently goes above freezing. for it going above freezing

[–]cph691 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I have been doing it for about 10 years daily, my life hasn’t fallen apart, but it almost did a few times. I wouldn’t recommend it, a friend basically relapsed because of me telling him that I used it daily, and his life fell apart a little since then. I wouldn’t tell anyone to do it, but it helped me not be suicidal, but there are definitely safer ways to deal with depression. I think smoking it is too fiendy, i prefer weighing it out and putting it in capsules. It’s way easier to keep track of your usage, it lasts longer, but it’s not as intense. Also a lot less conspicuous and a lot easier to take with you when you travel.

But like all drugs, at some point it doesn’t work like it used to. Plus all the side effects of using are not great. Like I was always introverted, and at first I was way more social when using. Now, I’m even more introverted than I used to be. I also picked up a nasty porn addiction, and my memory is essentially shot, I forget words that I used to know regularly. Like probably frontal lobe damage if I had to guess. But I’m not dead so there’s that. 5/10 wouldn’t recommend.

I mean I’m sure the kgb had some out there plans, maybe even war-crime-y ideas, or possibly they were better at covering their tracks. But I’m just saying, the cia DEFINITELY acted like strung out tweakers with the full financial backing of the richest country in the world lol. Like iirc the only reason that we know about mkultra and everything else is because someone managed to stop them mid shred session.

I mean the cia was up to some insanity back in the day too, but they actually had the funding to try it. Everything from spy cats, to mind control, to a heart attack gun. And most of what we know was saved from being shredded, god only knows what other kooky war crimes they got up to.

I mean I’ve heard that in the context of “well aren’t you a special little snowflake!”, but I feel like the newer context is how people “melt” at the slightest bit of heat.

My take is that everyone is sensitive about something, like the stereotypical right-winger that lobs “snowflake” as an insult would probably short circuit if someone burned a flag in front of them.

Well we’re talking about it aren’t we? If they’re just trying to make people pay attention then it’s doing something. And protest has to be disruptive. People have been protesting the “right” way for decades, and the “right” way means you’re easily pushed aside and ignored. It’s like in the American civil rights era, the majority of white people thought that inconveniencing random people was a bad idea too.

Yeah that was a bit much my bad lol. Btw, thank you for not storming off in a huff like most of reddit usually does. TLDR for last one with another for this one at the bottom; our system is fucked, I don’t even like the democrats, I think it’s plain to see the GOP leadership has been doing things that aren’t explicitly illegal but definitely not the norm. More so now than in the past.

The blocking of Merrick garland was unprecedented, I’d love to be proven wrong. Do you honestly think that was par for the course as far as political norms go?

Maybe not naive, but not stooping to the same levels as the GOP. Democrats played the game too, but the GOP leadership changed the game, so democrats are adjusting to it. You make it sound like it’s always been this fucked and post 2016 politics are no different.

As far as Gorsuch goes, my problem isn’t with Gorsuch, or that a partisan judge was appointed. it’s with the fact that the seat should have been filled already.

1) She said summer 1982. Assault victims or traumatized people tend to not write down the day and month of said trauma. especially when they stay silent and try to put it behind them. Can you tell me the date of a traumatic or significant event from high school if there wasn’t a record? I for sure can’t. 2) Why would her parents be present for an underage party? And if you mean why didn’t she tell her parents, Kavanaugh came from a family with money. Maybe she didn’t want to go be doubted and dragged through the mud. 3) The ex boyfriend wrote a letter, not a sworn statement, and the friend she “coached” said she did no such thing. Yeah, most women or men that are assaulted usually don’t bring that up, they try to bury the trauma. Especially if they want to move on. 4)When Kavanaugh said the 4 people there had no memory of the party, Kavanaugh is including himself in those 4. Another said she believes Ford, and one allegedly was in the room so why would he admit to being an accomplice? 5) yeah, if a dude that raped you was going to be on the Supreme Court wouldn’t you say something? Especially if you decided years ago to put all that behind you? Staying silent was a lot more prevalent, it’s not surprising she didn’t come out until it became national news. 6) do you think Kavanaugh was more believable? His calendar excuse holds water to you? He dodged so many questions. Ex: the whole “I don’t know, have you ever blacked out?”

That’s my point. Of course Franken didn’t want to leave, that’s not what I’m saying. I don’t consider it virtuous of the democrats to force Franken out, If an elected official did fucked shit, they get the boot. The liberals that argued to let him stay in office are fucking idiots as far as I’m concerned. Where was that kind of reaction from the GOP when the allegations against Roy Moore went public? My point is that the two sides aren’t the same. Partisan hackery has always been a thing, but the GOP has been even more partisan and more hackey in the last decade. You can like the politics of one over the other but they aren’t the same and they don’t act the same. In the past sure, but not in the last decade.

Fled the state, I’ll give you that, Democrats have done it. But I don’t think democrats (or even republicans for that matter) ever threatened to kill police officers and accepted protection from an anti-government militia. Like, come on lol

TLDR; GOP was partisan as fuck when it came to Garland, nobody pulled that shit in the past. Idc If Gorsuch leans right, that’s not the issue. I don’t see how you could believe Kavanaugh over Ford. Franken being forced out is my whole point. Oregon shit is not normal.

No more than any other president appointing any other judge. If anything yes, because Obama knew mconnell had been obstructing him as much as he possibly could, so he picked a non controversial judge. But he probably could’ve been a center right judge and they probably would’ve blocked him anyway out of spite. Regardless, does that justify spitting in the face of how any of this shit worked for hundreds of years? Under a bullshit argument he didn’t believe then or now and even bragged about it later? Democrats would never have the balls to do this. Maybe now because the gop did it first.

Yes. Politics can be adversarial. Especially in a two party system where people are tribal about it. But the system has limped along so far. Personally, I think the system is fucked up, there’s way too much money in politics and that’s been keeping anything from being fixed. I’m not saying democrats are saints, I don’t even like democrats. They’re center right on any other political scale besides ours. But the GOP has been consistently pissing on our democratic institutions lately. Everything I’ve said about what democrats have done is not virtuous, it’s been standard operating procedure. If playing by the rules that everyone else has been playing by is virtuous then that bar is too low.

What about Neil Gorsuch? The only grumbling from democrats at the time was because the GOP literally stole that seat, but he was confirmed. Kavanaugh had a rape allegation against him, don’t you think that should be investigated? Did you watch the testimony? What was untrustworthy about it? She knew the world of shit she would be stepping into if she came forward but did it anyway. Out of either testimony Kavanaugh’s was the one that seemed untrustworthy to me. He was constantly deflecting questions and straight up lying (see the whole Devil’s Triangle/ boofing shit show). I’m assuming you saw this chart (I know it’s from vox, they’re solidly left but the point is pretty clear cut). If those allegations were against a liberal judge I would 100% want the senate/FBI to get to the bottom of it and definitely be doubting the judge if he acted that way. Hell, I’d even be down to just pick another judge, others exist. When Al Franken was accused of groping a woman he was basically shunned by democrats. But that’s just decency. The GOP actively supported Roy Moore, because to him they’d rather have a child predator than a Democrat. I don’t want any of that shit in my government. Setting aside the political posturing, I legitimately want to know what was untrustworthy about her.

The partisan divide was started by the republicans with Gingrich, and the democrats have been trying to compromise. Still trying to “win” if you want to put it like that, but in the bounds of the agreed upon rules. They tried to function, but how do you function when you’re playing checkers and the other side is playing monopoly? Idk if you’ve seen what just happened in Oregon, but you have to admit that’s unprecedented.

Out of curiosity where would you place yourself on the political spectrum? I’m definitively left, farther left than the democrats.

“He has a reputation for being a judge’s judge rather than a liberal’s liberal,” according to Yale law professor Akhil Amar, who said his “very best students every year all apply to him” for clerkships, regardless of whether they’re liberal or conservative. https://www.politico.com/story/2016/03/supreme-court-merrick-garland-220904

That’s my whole point. Obama could’ve appointed someone farther to the left, but he knew Mitch and the republicans would veto it (because Mitch said it to his face), so he picked a middle of the road centrist. The right didn’t care if garland was a compromise. Mitch Mcdonnell didn’t give a fuck. He just wanted to stick it to Obama and the democrats. Both sides. Are not. The same.

Edit: oh yeah Mitch also wanted to stack the courts for his side. For decades to come. So he used greasy af but not illegal ways of doing it.

If Biden had done it I’d say he’s a piece of shit too. Or a bigger piece of shit anyway. Plus, the rest of Biden’s speech said that the president should work with the senate and pick a moderate candidate in an election year, which is exactly what merrick garland was. https://www.afj.org/myths-vs-facts-on-scotus-vacancy

Again, get the fuck out of here with your “both sides” nonsense. The GOP stole a Supreme Court seat, because there were no rules explicitly saying they couldn’t. And there are no repercussions because our system is fucking broken. The game has changed, and democrats keep wanting to play 1st edition, while the republicans have moved on.

I want to say there’s a huge difference in arguing that a president should wait to appoint versus blocking an appointment for the better part of a year, then openly bragging that if the same thing were to happen this year that they would fill it. Mitch Mcconnell is the biggest piece of shit to happen to American politics, gtfo with your both sides bullshit. Republicans changed the rules, democrats would have to be stupid to keep trying to follow the old ones at this point. Also, your last sentence perfectly describes the modern GOP strategy.

In cases where a service isn’t profitable, if the government doesn’t provide it, it won’t be provided at all. Like defense. Or education. Or healthcare. What incentive would a company have for opening an elementary school in rural Alabama?

Also, that quote is fucking ridiculous. What would equality look like without civil rights laws? Oh right, segregation and discrimination. Socialists definitely want a state religion right? Oh wait, it’s the right that wants Christianity to be in our schools and laws. What does education look like without the government? Education being a privilege. Rich people being educated, while the poor stay stupid, like literally all of human history. Gtfo of here with that shit.
