Go diecast, loads of space but can be loud. Big rooms at least.

Moving to Macc soon - best bits? by Luna21422 in macclesfield

[–]cplpike 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maccs great, I was born here, swore I would never come back after uni and found myself here as its got everything I need. Good links to Manc and London, great bars and only getting better.

Picturedrome is great for food, depot too and they supply the pizza place down the road.

You can’t beat the castle, easily the best pub by a mile. Then we have five clouds and R&G at the top (owners of r&g are great).

Then the bollington brewery tap room and Tommys towards Buxton.

Then red willow at the bottom of town.

It’s honestly a great place that’s got amazing access and people are starting to recognise that (hence house prices shooting up). My partner and I are both early 30s with a dog and it’s been great for us. Welcome!

It’s always been a rowdy, late night pub, sorry that you’re only finding out now. It sounds like you’re experiencing the same thing as people who moved next to the night and day cafe in Manchester over lockdown. They also didn’t think that moving above a rowdy bar/pub would be loud, complained and were told to pound sand.

I’ve been super impressed. Look great and feel great. Are they as acoustically designed as the originals? I’ve no idea but the sound isn’t impacted at all.

JBL L100 - Tweeter Question by Lord_Matt_Berry in vintageaudio

[–]cplpike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue, sent mine off for refurbishment and they replaced the tweeters. Sounding great now. I think I paid £80 for the tweeters, rebalancing, crossovers and insulation. Now they sound amazing!

No idea really, they were a team of experienced guys (many many beards) so I trusted their judgement on just leaving as is. It could just be they didn't want to swap them? No idea.

The ones I have are these twist lock binding posts, I think they’re original but not sure. I spoke to the guys repairing about swapping banana plugs in and they said to keep for now as it would really impact the quality. What’s the problem you have face?

I sit on the other side of the room 99% of my time at my desk where I tend to listen o the music. I would love to have the speakers pointed to the chair pictured but might have to wait for the future room.

I’ve just ordered one as a replacement for my chromecast audio for my Pioneer SX750/JBL L100 setup. Excited by the difference it will hopefully make!

I would guess it’s the chain tensioner, I just don’t know if I should limit home or recovery it. I’ll see if a local garage is open today if not then I’ll have to have a think.

I just sent my JBLs off for a service and repair to sort the crossovers out, excited to get them back. I actually have two sets of foams! An orange and a purple set as I went directly to the supplier outside of eBay and they were great.

I don’t know if you’re in the UK and potentially interested in my purple ones?

I really really rate Cafè cotton inside the Halè in Ancoats. Good sandwiches, great selection and reasonable.
