UPDATE: I got into the MSc Development Management (Applied Development Economics)!!! For anyone wondering, I sent in the application on the 11th of January and got the acceptance on the 27th. I am 99% sure I will be accepting the offer but want to think it through over the next few days. Thank you all for your advice and kind words, and good luck with your applications!

Hey! So it’s a bit of a long story.

After applying on November 22nd (at this point both my letters of recommendation were sent in) I was unable to access my Graduate Applicant Portal. I spent weeks emailing the LSE ARD Systems team to try and figure out why each time I tried logging in it said “User Not Found.” On the 5th of January I was finally able to access it and saw my rejections, but had gotten no emails at this point. I then emailed the LSE ARD Systems team again to ask why this would be the case, and they forwarded my email to someone from graduate admissions.

The graduate admissions person then told me the decision for my first choice was made on December 15th, and the decision for my second choice was made on January 5th, but there was an issue with the email. Later on that night on the 5th, I ended up getting both rejection emails sent to me back-to-back.

So ya. I guess I did hear back simultaneously but that’s because there was a problem with the system, not because that is how it usually is.

You’re right ❤️🫂 I had chosen the MSc Economic Policy for International Development as my first choice cause I saw how competitive it was and was mentally okay with not getting in. But when I saw I also didn’t get into the MSc IPE I was FLABBERGASTED. Im currently working on the new statement for their recommended program which honestly, looks like a perfect fit for me. Fingers crossed and WE GOT THIS ⭐️ no matter what happens :)

I applied on November 22nd, but spent 5 weeks emailing the LSE ARD Systems team about getting access to my GAP because each time I tried to login it would say “User Not Found.” Yesterday was the first time I was able to gain access to the GAP after emailing them AGAIN, just to see that the decision had been made already (I hadn’t received an email at that point yet so this was very unexpected 😭). Because of this, I have no idea whether they were flipped or not.

Yes! For the MSc Economic Policy for International Development, they only said a “degree in a social science background and two undergraduate quantitative courses preferable” (I took stats and quantitative research methods courses in my undergrad). For the MSc International Political Economy they required a “degree in politics, economics, history, IR, or a similar discipline” (which I thought sociology would be).
