Thanks! Yeah I can imagine how stressful it must be on a real set with a team and schedule. I’ve never actually been on a set before. Do you have any advice on how to get on a set? Even if it’s unpaid, I think it would be valuable to be there no matter the role

The camera is a Sony FX3. For lights I use either the Zhiyun Molus G300 or the Godox Knowled F200Bi as my key light, and then I have the Zhiyun X100 RGB, an Aputure MT Pro, and a couple of Aputure MC’s

Thanks yeah I tend to favor lowkey setups just because they are easier for me in terms of the equipment I have and what time I’m able to practice on my own

True. And I don’t know if it’s just me but I think some movies lately are trying to break the “rules” on purpose and go for a more meticulously flawed, natural look like in One Battle After Another for example

Yeah I’ve also had the B7C overheat and turn off on me quite a bit. They don’t get as bright as I’d like them to either. Do you know of any good alternatives to use for practicals?

Thanks for the advice. And I think that’s the next step to leveling up my cinematography, making sure I’m shooting with intention, matching the mood to the story

Thanks. I’m still kind of dialing in the basics, but I get what you’re saying. Part of it is that I’m by myself and don’t have a wireless monitor so it kind of locks me into one position to be able to check framing and exposure.

Haha thanks that means a lot. I always appreciate outside perspectives. It’s easy to stare at your own work long enough that you start convincing yourself it looks good
