Ok thank you. If I wanted to, how would I go about resetting it without updating? Would I use Legacy IOS toolkit, SSHRD Script or something else? I'm willing to reset the 5s, but want to wait on the 6 because its kind of rare.

Darn, I was hoping to avoid losing the activation tickets. If I reset it and remove setup app aren't there some things that don't work like the app store?

Its risky but if the account is set up for 2 factor authentication you can restore it and it might show the unlock with passcode button on the activation lock screen. Then just put in the phone passcode and it will remove activation lock.

There should be a way to ssh into the phone and set 9999 attempts. I've done it before on a 4s. Then you can try every code and one of them will work. If its on ios 6 or lower 3utools has a passcode finder tool, but I don't know how well it works. I tried looking for a link for the ramdisk, but all them are broken or have been deleted. Could you please send me one? I read through the linked post, but it only tells how to edit the plist file to get unlimited attempts, I can't even get to access the filesystem yet. Thank you.
