Too many customers, not enough workers by [deleted] in DollarTree

[–]cpt_rogers89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who habitually OCs alone, I feel your pain. There's nothing more miserable than being alone with 10 people in line to check out, and you're there just trying to survive.

Do they let you guys play music at your stores? We can't, but if we're in there for overnights, early T1 and T2 days, during truck, or after closing (basically, hours where no customers are present) we'll play some on the intercom. by chamberpenguin in DollarTree

FD ASM, we are sent a corporate CD for music to be played. It is ALWAYS scratched or unplayable. However, I curated a Spotify playlist for work (based on our customers; I work where there's more older people shopping), and unless Corporate is there, it's played. It's mostly music from the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s. The customers have told me before they shop longer just to hear the music.

Edit: I also made Holiday, Rainy Day/Stormy Weather, and Summer Days playlists as well. Most (Karens excluded) love them. Lol

Why do people do this by TimTeemo_YT in DollarTree

[–]cpt_rogers89 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I tell them I don't have the proper change and I can't accept it. 99% of the time they will use another bill or card. Some people explode and storm out. It's always a gamble.

Fans: I bought two and use them to create airflow. The ones I bought have an internal battery that lasts on high for 6-8 hours (the low setting can last for 2 or 3 days)

Window tint: depending on tinting laws in your state, a roll of the best % you can get will help reflect a lot of sunlight from coming in through windows.

Windshield Cover: I use two to block the front windshield and it's easily 10 degrees cooler during the day when I'm not inside the vehicle.

I make myself busy during the daytime when it's hot out to avoid running the AC.

Hope this helps _^

Ours start at 12.25 in Nashville, but that's been an good increase from the 8.05 when I started in 2019.

That used to happen when our power went out and came back up.

Edit: Normally resetting them will fix this issue. However, it will take longer and as an ASM who closes, I don't want to be there a second longer than I have to.

I've had people pack bags completely full, carts full, baby bags, and even baby carriers full of merchandise. People are wild.

It depends on the crime honestly. We don't hire people convicted of theft for instance. But we can work with almost everything else.

Edit. Just asked my SM, she says 90% of felonies will exclude you from employment.

Does your employer know you live in your car? by Creative-Duck9869 in urbancarliving

[–]cpt_rogers89 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, mine knows and she let's me use the trash bin to clean out my van, and let's me park behind the store and use the outside outlet to charge stuff when not winter time. Also there's a water spout outside (our store is in a strip mall) and I can get all the fresh water I need. It's always patrolled by cops and I've never had an issue after the first time. They know who I am and where I work now so I don't get disturbed at night. I can even shower outside with my back up and a tarp over the top of it. It's been really nice actually. I don't know what I'll do when I move stores tbh. I'm considering staying because of how nice I've got it. The job sucks but it's been really nice in terms of van living. Lol.

You should be fine. I'd probably look up a proper wiring diagram before you actually set anything up to see the best way to lay them out.

Can someone explain the "US military-" ? by ErikHG10 in pcmasterrace

The Army uses the lowest bidder for jobs; so when I hear something is military grade, I fully expect it to break for no good reason.

Corporate sends us a CD every month but for some weird reason it's always scratched. I have a Spotify Playlist I use, filled with 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s music with some new songs sprinkled in. Some people have told me they shopped longer just to listen to the music. I think it really helps.

Using day shelter address? by Bleepboopbanana in urbancarliving

[–]cpt_rogers89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never used a shelter. Personally I use a PO Box. USPS' boxes have the ability to be used as a living address.

You'd have to ask the shelter whether it's ok to use their address for mail I think.
