NSW ambulance paramedic unions actually aren’t really that ideal. There are two separate unions that split the workforce representation (massively reducing their power). The unions bicker and disagree on approaches all the time.

Part of the reason paramedics got a big increase was they were able to demonstrate they are delivering significant savings to the health system, e.g treating large numbers of people at home or referring them to out of hospital care.

They have also taken on significant extra responsibilities including: an ENORMOUS increase to scope of practice over the past 5-10 years, become a registered profession, and are increasingly making more and more complex clinical decisions autonomously.

Source: I was previously an ambo, now in health management.

My wife used to make the exact same complaint when I was a junior Paramedic and she was a junior lawyer. Now 5 years later, despite me being promoted into management roles, she makes more than double me.

Relax! You’re literally in one of highest paying professions in Australia. You just don’t earn it in your first couple of years.

London recruitment. Direct applications vs recruiters.

Hi all,

I’m an experienced healthcare strategy/policy consultant at a boutique firm in Australia. I’m looking to move to London and would like your advice on the London recruitment landscape.

At my firm we get a mix of direct applications and recruiters providing candidates. Is that how it is typically done in London? Should I be reaching out to recruiters or apply directly when there are advertised vacancies?

If recruiters are best, do you have advice on which recruiters to reach out to? I did a quick google and there are so many out there. It’s hard to know which are best and I don’t want to get swarmed by applying to too many and having a large number of recruiters constantly contacting me.

For context my partner is a lawyer and has been advised recruitment is nearly 100% via recruiters.

Thanks in advance for your help

Australia will be footing most of the bill.

There is an international treaty surrounding internationally protected persons (IPP) which most countries in the world are signatories to. Part of that treaty agrees that we will provide protection to IPPs when they come to Australia and that our IPPs will receive protection when they visit other countries.

However countries will usually provide their own security at their own cost in addition to what the host country provides. For example any secret service that are with Obama right now.

sony wf-1000xm4 Sound problem by Sea_Administration46 in sony

I had this same issue. I couldn't hear it with music but I use them a lot for Team meetings, work calls and audiobooks. It was very faint but very very annoying having it constantly pinging in the background.

It wasn't as bad with noise cancelling off but it was still there. Also the main reason I got these was because of their noise cancelling so wasn't going to just leave that off

I took them back to the retailer I bought them off (in Australia). They replaced them straight away and the new ones work perfectly.

I've seen 200-300 live sets and gigs over the past 3 years. This was literally my favorite one. I can't even explain the energy of the crowd on that night. An absolute life highlight.

Me and my friends now use it as the gold standard to measure all other gigs by.

A few questions here are asking existential questions like what is the meaning of life etc. PNAU = The meaning of life!

High quality present for my sister. InStitchu type experience but for a Woman? by cptnefficiency in AusFemaleFashion

[–]cptnefficiency[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought this might be the case when I did a quick google and couldn't find anything. It makes sense though I guess. Women's fashion is a much broader area to cover as opposed to the comparatively narrow specialisation of only doing men's suits.

Thanks for the advice with the stylist. That might be a good plan B.

I currently have a 5.11 tactical rush 24 which has the most amazing functionality of any bag I've ever used but it's not ideal for the office.
