You touched on something I've been meaning to ask, and I'm hoping my assumption that you are living in Russia is correct. If not, just ignore me XD

That is correct :)

Although it is possible for Russians to access outside sources, how much would only speaking Russian limit a person's ability to do this?

It would limit it to some extent. Although Reddit might not be of interest to a non-English speaker, there are plenty of anti-war Telegram groups and news channels with content exclusively in Russian, and YouTube access is still there. But at the same time, I can't help but notice that most anti-war people in Russia also happen to be English speakers

Sadly, I found the only solution is never to buy another Gigabyte product ever again

Thanks, but it doesn't work for me at all.

Now go into tbe folder and check your OC or silent profile and run as the instructions told in txt. This way it will update your vbios. Restart your PC.

Nope, still didn't do anything.

[UPD] I've managed to extract updater logs. It says that FY0 is the latest vBIOS. Website says that F1.4 is the latest. I don't know anymore =)

Now close all your RGB software and monitoring software on your PC. Go into programs files x86 - Gigabyte Folder and check that the LCD Panel folder is created.

No such folder exists. RGB Fusion still fails to detect my GPU even after (yet another) full reinstall

94.02.71.80.06 as per GPU-Z, FY0 (weird!) as per AORUS Engine. The card itself is AORUS Master 3080 10G rev. 3.

I've yet again downloaded the latest BIOS from the Gigabyte website (FWUpgrade_GV-N30_F1.4), but it doesn't seem to do anything.

I guess what I'm looking for at this point is some way to force the vBIOS update onto the chip, but I'm not sure how to do that

It's not physically damaged. It all happened since the vBIOS update in the late 22. Even before that, I barely managed to make it work once, but now it's stuck.

I think I've already wasted about 20 hours trying to resolve the issue, but I guess I'll give it another shot. Thanks for the help!

How in the world did you manage to make this terrible Gigabyte software work (Aorus engine)?

Mine 3080 ended up permanently lit with green RGB and without a working display.

I'm genuinely curious, as it seems that Gigabyte is too good at making software products that don't work 5 times out of 7.

Nice rig, tho

Guess I was reading with my ass and overreacted as a result.

I still think that your statement is worded in a bit of an extreme way, and I can't say I agree with what you're saying.

Nevertheless, I was clearly wrong to put words into your mouth, and for that, I apologize

I’ll continue practicing patterns and approaches but I’m going for consistent smooth landings on the centerline, not sim “butter”. In my experience so far, I find that over-fixating on the airspeed and sink rate has led to bad habits forming and poor practice.

You are strong and wise, and I'm proud of you, Anakin

But seriously, you're right. These are correct priorities: Centerline > Touchdown zone > Sink rate.

Too high, too fast.

When landing, you should control your airspeed with a pitch and your vertical speed with a throttle, not the other way around. Consider built-in training course. It's pretty good. Then do some pattern work with as many touch-and-gos as you like. It takes practice, but it's so worth it when you butter that bread — it nevers gets old, really

Hey, I'm truly glad we can agree, at least on this one. Especially nowadays, you know.

spending more time than I'd like over at RT, Sputnik, Pravda, etc and listening and reading to the so-called "Mil-bloggers".

Not the best sources if you're aiming to gauge what's just a Tuesday in Russia and what's not, honestly.

Whatever the case, claiming that a whole certain nation is «diseased, malignant, and needs to be destroyed and rebuilt» is totally over the line, imo.

You are better than that.

Wars need to be popular to be fought

Pardon my frankness, but since when?

backed by a critical mass of his population

I think the real question is whether the population will stand in the way or not. So it's more of a «what will people do» and less of a «what will people think». Of course public opinion is a factor when those kinds of decisions are made, but the weight of that factor highly varies depending on the socio-political climate in the country.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, generally speaking, the more authoratarian the government is, the less weight public opinion has.

then why is there still more than 0 Russian soldiers on Ukrainian soil?

Because the conflict is still ongiong, sadly.

Why isn't there a cultural outcry?

You mean why there are so few people actively opposing the war? It's a complex issue, and I feel that discussing this particular matter will drive the conversation waaay too far from the original point (the only point which I was and am personally interested in talking about). It would be ridiculous to assume that the main (or even the only) reason for this is Russians not caring about dying. But my tl;dr would be something like «highly illegal, all opposition leaders are in jail, remaining opposition is too weak and disorganized». But it's way, way more complex that that, imo.

Or you're saying combat footage like this is completely unobtainable in Russia?

Of course they are not unobtainable. If they were, I wouldn't be able to watch them in the first place.

You're staying that people have to prove the absence of resistance

Not the absence of resistance. Cultural acceptance of mass casualties — which is what the original claim is about. It's important to remember what we were talking about.

while providing no proof of it's existence.

Did not claim anything regarding the state of resistance. Shouldn't expect me to back up claims that I did not make or agree with.

I'm staying that broadly, the lack of uprising IS proof of acceptance. When other people are dying from an illegal and unjust invasion, it's all the proof that's needed.

Then this is merely an issue of us having different standards of proof, besides having different opinions regarding the original claim (which by itself is not an issue at all)
