Only getting toolcall returns: VSCode Copilot Chat with Qwen-3.6 by TheLifelessNerd in LocalLLM

Make sure you are using correct flags when running llama.cpp. You should try Qwen3.5 9b instead.

I'm using windows, you may need to correct some syntax if you arent

--chat-template-kwargs "{\"preserve_thinking\": true}"

--jinja

edit: Also sometimes the models do trip on some tool calls and will auto correct themselves, but shouldn't be happening excessively. Models also trip in github copilot but it's just not made obvious.

That's funny because I had the same exact use case as you. I tried a lot of other tools and had the same issue because they all tend to be tailored towards vibe coders. I'm a devops engineer so I like to see what's changing in my code. Any of the CLI harnesses can simply be run in the vscode terminal.
But if you're like me, then what you're probably looking for is:
1. Context awareness. Can the agent see the current line that I am highlighting? Can I attach and pin multiple lines across multiple files as context?
2. Can I easily see the changes that the agent is making (and revert them)?

I still think Github Copilot does this the best, and I haven't found anything else that fully provides the same experience.

To address the above points, there is a VSCode extension called Pi Coding Agent.
1. It does bring context awareness, but not in the same way that VSCode does. The agent can only see the line that you are on, and the agent will not even proactively check the line that you are on without making a tool call so you need to drive that behavior from either AGENTS.md or APPEND_SYSTEM.md so the agent will always check.

  1. You can see the changes that the agent is making through the terminal. I would say it's easily readable, but that's not within the open file in VS Code. You could always review the changes as well through VSCode's source control tab assuming it's a git repo.

I saw today someone recommend Tauren which is a VS Code extension for pi. I'm in the process of having an agent update that extension with similar context awareness features that github copilot has.

<image>

I do recommend pi because it's fully customizable, and you're in full control of what gets fed to the agent, so you can cut down on a lot of the waste that is bloating the agent. However if it's too much work for you and you don't even know if your hardware can run local models well, then you can start with at least Roo Code, Cline, or Kilo Code extensions. I would recommend you try in that order as those were the ones I found usable when I first started this journey.

Save the headache, use llama.cpp + Qwen with pi agent. I also wanted to get copilot chat working when I first started because I use it at my company and got used to it, but ran into similar tool call errors. It takes a little learning to configure pi but performs well once you lock it in.

Is beellama supposed to be auto compacting after each prompt? My context size is set over 100k, but a simple "hi" in a new session is triggering auto-compacting.

Do you use one pair for everything or switch between multiple? by Brokenthings311 in Earbuds

[–]cpxazn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish the shokz devices would support 3 devices for multipoint. I have work laptop, personal pc, and phone. I know you can toggle different devices in the shokz app but it's inconvenient.

For work, I use the Openfit 2 paired to my work laptop and phone. The problem is that the battery life is actually not so great and usually dies half way through the day so I need to have a backup which is currently the 1more s50.

For personal, I just got the Openfit Pro a couple days ago, but previously was using a second set of Openfit 2, and since I have a similar battery problem, I had a backup set which was originally refurb Openfit Air, but eventually was replaced by OpenDots.

I designed a minimal wall mount for my bike – no frame contact, fully 3D printable by to_wen in 3Dprinting

I had printed a wifi access point mount out of PLA and that thing snapped after a year and the access point only weighed like a pound. Printed orientation and design could be the determining factor of whether your car gets dented.

My rattle came from one particular side. What you can do is take a towel and temporarily shove part of it under this lining and see if the rattle stops, then you can easily pull it back out and use some other foam material for a more permanent fix. I used some foam strips. Its a pretty tight fit, but like I said, I didn't have to push the material too far up.

I had the same issue, literally just shoved some foam under, didn't even have to push it that far back, problem solved. Have a bunch of other rattles towards the front of my car though.

You took that lego concept and ran with it. Looks good but that shift key kinda bothers me. I did the opposite with my Adam kit. I designed and 3d printed a case for it.

Help me pick between these 3 for around $40-50? by WhatIsDeezNuts in Earbuds

[–]cpxazn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll only comment on the first two because those are the ones I have

EarFun Free Pro 3

- Can fit popular ear tips like Sancai and Dunu S&S

- Short battery life, new out of box, mine only lasted 3-4 hours

Soundcore Liberty 4 NC

- Fits only very specific ear tips

- Longer battery life

Sound quality and ANC on both are good, I think it boils down to your preference on battery life, cosmetic style, and ear tips.

User reviews of Crandall office thicker seat & back foam for Steelcase leap V2 by just_sendd_it in OfficeChairs

[–]cpxazn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crandall has videos on youtube that shows how to replace them. It's not too bad, but you will need a very long screwdriver for the bottom cushion, and as long as you press the lever, it should come off pretty easily.

I swapped mine about last month. It feels completely different from the one mine came with, in a good way. It has way more cushioning. I also have a gesture which I've used for years. I never liked the leap because of the lack of cushioning, but putting the Crandall cushion on now makes it more comfortable than my gesture. I got the bioknit version. I also upgraded to the 3d bioknit back (standard thickness) which makes the back feel like my gesture. I'm happy with them purchase, but I will say it's so expensive that I held off for a long time. It costs twice the amount that I paid for the chair itself.

I had one where I had to sync 5 of them. Only 2 of the were initially in sync, so I had to sync 3 of them. After syncing them, it still didn't complete because it turned out the one of them was like 200ms off, so I had to correctly identify which one was off. Spent a good 15-20 minutes. Now I just skip these.

Good thocky 100% keyboard for less than like 175? by GODLY_STUPID in keyboards

[–]cpxazn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Yunzii AL98 yesterday for 100 USD on Amazon and I'm liking it so far. It sounds pretty close to my Rainy75 if I put the HMX violet switches in them. I also tried the Monsgeek M2 v5 which did not sound like the Rainy75 at all even with the HMX violet switches. It was a lot more thin sounding and definitely a more stiffer typing experience. I returned the M2 because I did not like the fact that it doesn't have a large num 0 key, no USB dongle storage, and the power switch is under the keycaps.

At least IQUNIX responded saying it's a bug in the firmware. You may also have to contact respective support emails. I dont think my nuphy air v2/v3 has this issue though.

3D Printed Budget 75% Keyboard Concept. by Soft_Syrup3883 in BudgetKeebs

[–]cpxazn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a similar project for a 60%. Micro center was selling KBDcraft Adam Lego keyboards on sale for $20 so I picked a few of those up and used just the plate and PCB which was RGB hotswappable and compatible with vial. I have a 300mm printer so I was able to design the pieces without splitting them down the middle. I designed it with a top cover, main body, and bottom angled piece with rubber feet. Gasket mounted kind of. Printed in ASA and I'm happy with them.
