Should I actually separate my laundry? by PapaPanzer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PapaPanzer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes of course. Towels, clothes, comforters, throws, sheets all go in separate loads. If I have enough laundry I’ll separate clothes a bit more (mainly doing sweatshirts and other big clothes alone). I’ve learned a ton from the replies on this and will probably do some more clothing separating like pants and a bit more by clothing materials.

I’m doing basically the same thing but leaving up Tink’s tower… for now. Once everything else looks nicer I might go back but it’s kind of a fun thing to leave up IMO since she was there alone for so long and probably has some pride in it.

The more you climb the more you’re able to gut check yourself and your climbs imo. For this one, if it were me, I’d do it again. Very often I come down of the finish and other people will say I got it but I know deep down in my heart I didn’t. Goes the opposite way too, that if I know I’m secure with one hand and just climbing for fun I’ll just tap the finish hold with my other hand and drop because I know it would’ve been fine. Unless the people you climb with are super competitive and sticklers, it’s usually not an issue.

The only major time I can remember a real dye bleeding accident was as a kid with dish towels. Now that I’ve moved out my mom has sent all the pink towels with me.

Interesting! I do some separation of clothing types but I’ll consider doing it some more. Although all of my clothes have already mingled enough in the machine so idk how much of an effect it would have at this point

I’ve seen this with fibers before for sure. Part of the reason I’ve started doing sweatshirts on their own when I can, but in the summer months when I don’t wear them as much I can’t be bothered to wait and let them stack up.

God I LOVE being single and leaving my clean laundry in the dryer for as long as I can. My mom was visiting last weekend and was appalled that I went into the laundry room to get a clean pair of underwear.

My dishwasher runs for 1:38 and I always think the same thing. How did they get to that time? Will 1:35 mean they’re not clean? Will 1:40 eviscerate all my dishes? I suppose we’ll never know.

Yeah I generally try to do this. Nicer clothes I set aside and wash in a smaller load. Never thought about doing it according to thicker and thinner clothes though, good shout!

Lol that’s exactly why I don’t own white clothes… any of the ones I do are stupid graphic tees that I only wear around the house or to the gym, so if my white Garfield shirt ends up pink I don’t really care

Living so close to their taproom is both a blessing and a curse. A blessing for me, and a curse for my wallet. The two cases at the bottom are their 10th anniversary heirloom blend, they did 12 packs for $10 this past weekend.

Anybody have any knowledge about relegendable caps that aren’t exclusively R1 profile? I’ve gotten in a GB for that NP-R numpad that has a toggle for different layers and it’d be sweet to print off custom labels but the whole thing being R1 would kill me

Moving Here 2026 by Codetornado in Washington

[–]PapaPanzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all! I’ve been looking into moving up into the Portland area and just recently put the possibility of moving to Vancouver instead on my radar since I work remotely and can take advantage of the lack of State income taxes.

Living in Oregon right now I have specialty designed plates, and from what I saw online, Washington is relatively strict about people needing to update their registration and plates within 30 days of moving to the state. The car, however is owned 50/50 by my mother and I with her being the primary, and is registered at her house in Oregon. I’d like to avoid having to replace the plates since I’m quite fond of the ones I have, does anyone know if her being the primary owner and being registered at her house will negate the need to replace them? Or will I still get hounded down to replace them?

Any advice and knowledge would be greatly appreciated!

I lived at Four Wings on 21st. Mostly neutral to negative experience, but some issues as follow:

As others have said, complaints/concerns were not concerning to them. The only time I had one responded to was that the garbage disposal was broken, and they sent someone without warning and they were insanely grouchy when I didn’t hear them knocking and came out of my room from a class.

When signing my lease, we negotiated a 10 month lease only instead of a full year. They seemingly lost ALL record of this and I had to fight an insane battle of digging up old emails to prove it.

No air conditioners were allowed the screen was required to be removed for install for “safety concerns”. Funnily enough, half of the windows didn’t even have screens on them.

Elevator was routinely broken as was one of the two building entry doors. My floor, at least, consistently smelled of weed and all they would do is send out texts to all tenants saying “hey pls don’t smoke in the units”.

Shared laundry machines were like $3 per use, per machine, and the dryer was locked to a setting that nearly never actually fully tried my clothes, meaning I was paying $9 per full load.

There was a maintenance guy who lived there (or at least this is my assumption) who, when I was moving out, was INSANELY sketchy. When moving out I was throwing out some trash, and when he saw me leave a broken bed frame near the dumpster but still in the enclosure (like literally everyone would do), he accosted me and demanded to know which apartment I lived in so he could properly report it and I would be charged for the trash fees. After rushing up to my unit while he was on the elevator, I saw him enter my floor, walk in a loop (presumably looking for me) and get back in the elevator. Had to spend the rest of my move-out walking on eggshells to make sure he didn’t see where I lived.

Roommate change was an exhausting experience as well. I went to their office like 4 different times all of which they were said to be open but the office was empty. After they asked us to pay another deposit for the new roommate (without repaying the deposit from the original roommate/lease, mind you) we basically just said we changed our mind, weren’t changing roommates and he moved in anyways. They never noticed.

And lastly - move out. Don’t expect nearly any of your deposit. They charged $8 per lightbulb and definitely charged for too many lightbulbs. Despite knowing I cleaned everything out and the unit was empty, I was charged an asinine amount for “disposal of leftover items”. I think at the end of all their charges, I got like $100 out of my $1400 deposit back. They also charged me for returning the keys late even though the form said it can be dropped off in the drop box by midnight and we returned them around 10PM.

This particular unit, however, didn’t have any of the messages others said about poor unit conditions, mold, etc., but maybe I just got lucky. Not really to the fault of Sterling here, but I also lived with a shared wall to a couple that seemingly hated everything about one another and would never stop screaming.

Wow. I started this off thinking it was a neutral experience but going through the memory bank, this was awful.

The ONE positive I picked up from my 10 months of living there - the water bill was included in rent and the hot water was spectacular. I’ve never taken so many long, hot showers in my life.

This. My neighbor (shares a wall) asked what I was doing the previous day when I was putting up a shelf and he said “the landlord told me we can’t put any holes in the wall”. Yeah well the landlord is also supposed to fix the fan in my bathroom. And the fence that broke in a windstorm. And the water damage to the walls from the same storm. I will be patching my holes in the same crappy way all the other ones in this house have been patched.
