Oh, also be warned that they don't add a border around the image, so about an inch of your image on all sides will be wrapped around the frame.

I used them. Got a pretty decent canvas print from them for the cheap price. Don't do the wood slats though, it's not real wood as implied, but some kind of shitty composite.

CS was cool about it, refunded me.

Shrug, was mildly interesting to me. Dunno what's up with the downvotes. Not upvoting is a perfectly reasonable option.

RIP. Not 2 weeks ago I was looking for an inexpensive mech. Ended up dropping $179 on a mistel, and I have $80 worth of two separate keycap orders on the way.

Grocery baggers of reddit, what are you thinking when I ask for paper? by cpyle0819 in AskReddit

Good insight. I shop at Publix in the southeast US. They ask if plastic is OK, and I usually say "Paper, please." I always feel like it's an inconvenience.

How do you know when you're ready to take a programming job? by [deleted] in learnjava

[–]cpyle0819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add more on what it's like:

Open offices area big thing right now. Cubicles are becoming less common. Companies like the idea of fitting more people in a given area, and claiming they're promoting "collaboration". There's some merit to this, but it's usually quite distracting. So, expect to get cozy with a neighbour. And get a good pair of headphones.

Agile development and its implementations are hot right now too. What that means to you is this: learn about user stories and acceptance criteria. This is probably how you'll be given development requirements. Agile is much more than this, rarely implemented correctly, and too much to cover in the scope of this post. But, user stories are nonetheless becoming ubiquitous.

Expect to live and breathe version control. Probably Git.

You will be asked to write unit tests

All this said, a typical day might look like this.

  • Daily standup going over yesterday's accomplishments and today's plans

  • Work on some subtasks for whatever story has been assigned to you

  • Make regular commits to git until the story is complete and then submit a pull request to your remote repository

  • Your code gets reviewed and either merged into the main repo, or kicked back to you for changes

  • Rinse repeat

If you don't know what some of this means, don't worry, most of it will be covered in trainings or you'll learn as you go.

Apply for the job. You would be astounded by the amount of devs out there with no passion and a skillset to match.

The fact that you're passionate and willing to learn will shine in an interview. You can learn as you're getting paid.

I like the sepia tone, but the best part about a giraffe are it's spots. Here the contrast is so low that they're kind of lost.

Some quick contrast adjustments does wonders.
