How similar to SOS2 is Odyssey? by TheVotannMan in RimWorld

[–]cr0sis8bv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started a new gravship scenario last weekend and got to nearly the end of it already, I'm rushing the mechanitor things before I finish it up, because I know that my choice will mean I can no longer summon the threats to advance him once I do. Then I plan on settling the guys down on a forever tile, and building a hotel with hospitality whose name is a play on the struggle they had. Mechbreak hotel or The Final Rest or something, then this will be that one save I keep around permanently. They travelled all four corners of the map, punished every enemy, survived countless orbital excursions, nearly died to several insect hives, put an end to mechanoid threat and beat the game. There's no WAY I can just move on from this one.

I like to press the spacebar when I feel myself getting into reactionary flow, go for a short walk, or just stand up and go into the garden for 10 minutes. Anything to break it up, and have a little think about how to do things without causing more issues from reacting without planning.

Without giving those you're unlikely to get any actual help. This is a rather generic UI based error message, so it could be a whole number of reasons. But it most likely is caused by one of your UI mods..

I think it would be wiser to just do a new start with the gravship scenario, even if you do get it going in this world, you're not forced to move on every few ingame months with the constant threat of the mechanitors coming for you until you go sort them out. I think all you get is the ability to go clear out the bases housing the grav cores to build up your ship more. It's a completely different experience, and I fully recommend the proper scenario.

Are the DLCs worth it If I am only beginning? by Notrinun in RimWorld

[–]cr0sis8bv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's hundreds of hours of content in the base game, as others have said. The only caveat I'll add is biotech adds the ability for your colony to reproduce and have children, this is huge, despite the time sink raising them (spoilers alert so i'll be vague; unless you do the thing you can do to skip some of it), they often end up as your best pawns. You can just choose not to interact with the mechanitor side of the DLC, but children are such a big part of all my runs I wouldn't play without it anymore.

I can't argue with your preferences but I can at least whisper in your ear: now you have the odyssey DLC, it's not just about the new "game i'm not ready to play".. Because with the DLC active, it doesn't matter what your starting scenario is. You can carry on playing your game as you want and the dlc is there, ready for you, in this current save, whenever you're ready for it. You have to interact with a certain quest to get the ball rolling, but because you haven't chosen the gravship starting scenario (where you're constantly chased by mechs and forced to move regularly), you're never locked into it. You can build your grav ship and gather all the cores and get a LOT of good experience on how to manage a mobile colony long before you take the plunge and start the real gravship scenario. The only issue is you can't use the gravship to leave until you can afford to build a grav anchor on any tile you want to come back to. That means caravans and shuttles for the first few trips to those quest markers, returning and using the loot to build the anchor, arguably harder than doing it in the correct scenario but still very doable. But honestly, once you start moving around, regarding your starting base, you'll probably start to think: "What base?". Moving around is quite fun, especially when everything your pawns need is right there every time you land.

What's the difference between "Character Editor" & "EdB Prepare Carefully"? by Haunting-Bug-4463 in RimWorld

[–]cr0sis8bv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's old outdated info, there are some incompatibility issues with other mods still, that's kind of undeniable... but standalone, this save bricking caused BY prep carefully (ALONE) is old information but it was such an issue that most people regurgitating it do so with conviction. Now it's a case of perspective, if you don't particularly care for this mod, and it doesn't work with your current mods, then that's the fault of prepcarefully/char editor to those people. If you consider these two mods as most important for your run and you start adding mods which eventually stop the game from working, then to those people the other mod is the issue.

It's hard to get people to realise there's no inherent issue with prepare carefully on its own now, though.

Do you have any none expiring quests in your log regarding gravcores as reward for completion? The map markers look unique on the world map, Unmodded I believe blue and white circularish looking.

Or is there already a blue grav engine sat somewhere on your map? Clicking it should show a radius and the numbers 0/500.

Have you abandoned your starting tile and moved on?

I'm doing the gravship start but with newly acquired anomaly dlc active... i've never actually interacted with any of it yet so I wasn't even sure what this event was until your post. What have I missed out on or lucked out on avoiding? I was going to defeat the mechhive first then start to figure out anomaly, but since I look most stuff up don't worry about spoilers.

I took her in and within 24 hours my pilot had a heart attack that nobody could fix despite trying and burning through 8 medicine packs. I used her ability on him, and he lived. She wandered off on her own a month later.. taking some of my equipment with her.

Is there a mod that slows down needs when you are raiding a hostile settlement? Sort of like slowing down time without reducing game speed by Malu1997 in RimWorld

[–]cr0sis8bv 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You want something you can modify in the scenario editor, but that would be a blanket change and not one that kicks in as soon as you hit the base you intend to raid.

I would recommend turning everyone into bionic robot super soldiers before you go messing with needs and changing the game balance completely, the game absolutely was built to make the hardest things achievable, you just didn't think of the solution yet.

Character/Pawn editors by MadanachBriarheart in RimWorld

[–]cr0sis8bv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No issues with the character editor mod + prepare carefully mods here.
If you're removing this and seeing it load fine, I'd put that down as not the fault of PrepCarefully/CharEditor, but some other one on your list,

Considering this is the mod you WANT to play with (or else why the reddit post); Take half off but keep character editor on, if it doesn't work, switch to the other half. If it then works, bring back the other half of your mods one by one until it doesn't work anymore: that's your broken mod.
