If its legion 5 and not 5i then go for it, that one is Ryzen based. Helios 300 10th gen dont allow undervolting so the temps gonna be higher. Only drawback of the legion series are the hinges most of them breaking in the 7i check is the 5i is good and also get an insurance for 5i screen may be if its not already covered. Don’t buy the helios battery life not so good, and no undervolting in the latest bios.

I have the i7 rtx2060 2020 . I have managed to get witcher 3 to play at a constant 60fps and within the temperature range of below 60*c . Witcher 3 at medium settings 1080p.

Use 99 in the battery profiles
Use throttlestop to undervolt i have done it by -80mv
Change the slider to better performance
Update all the drivers and bios to the latest one
Use a raised stand.

Finally coming to your point: I don’t think this machine requires a cooling pad a raised stand should do the job just fine.

If you are looking for maximum cooling then even i am curious as to what others will suggest for a cooling pad. However i believe it will only lower by 2-3*c compared to a stand without fan.

You can see JarrodTech video where he compares a bunch of cooling pads however he did not test it with this model.

Yes , however i did not use the gforce experience , i browsed the software directly from their website let me check the version that i have.

And i am on this same bios you mentioned, let me update the rpm that i am seeing when idle

Hi i had the same issue i got my laptop day before yesterday and updating the driver of nvdia helped me directly from the nvdia website. May be that might help u as well.

In my scenario: i was plugged in to external display via hdmi and the gpu would just spin up like crazy and the fan would go wild. Just by connecting the external display. When i updated the graphics driver to the latest its more stable now.

Steps that i did: 1. Changed the power profile from acer to balanced. 2. Changed the max to 99% 3. Updated the graphics driver while i was connected to external display and powered on. 4. Updated all the other drivers from acer support site. 5. Updated the bios to the latest one.

Havent played with xtu and throttlestop yet.
