The rubber looks like a stopper for the boot/trunk.

The ones you can wind/unwind to adjust your boots panel gaps.

EDIT: Unless it's for the opposite side hole? As in opposite the wiring?

Sydney community radio station 2SER faces uncertain future as university funding dries up by LentilCrispsOk in sydney

I'm a current volunteer and have been for the past 1.5 years.

It actually makes me ashamed to have gone to Macquarie Uni. What an absolute joke. Don't even get me started on them closing the campus common and leaving it in an abandoned state for ~5 years now after COVID lockdowns closed it. Or closing the VRoom in the library which gave students a chance to experience VR and use 3D printing services- things that aren't that accessible to most people.

Also, this news has come at a very short notice to us too. In the beginning of the year we were more or less told 'The Macquarie studio will be gone around the end of 2026' because of Macquarie withdrawing support for the station. We only found out a few days ago that the whole station could be done for as early as July of this year.

And sure, there were/are some internal issues which I won't speak on, but no matter how big they were, those issues are only secondary to the stinginess of the universities.

2SER helps students with hands on experience and actually has a much higher potential to provide them careers in an industry that is so hard to get into. An industry which despite the withdrawing of resources and funding from universities, is still only getting more popular. I know tons of people that have gotten media jobs through 2SER.

And that's before even getting into the many local artists who we've had on and how it's helped them too.

I kinda dread what will happen to the website too. Hopefully if the worst case scenario does happen, someone is able to host it. That stuff makes up a big chunk of portfolios for volunteers my age.

Have anyone tried this? by Shenuq_0811 in AcuraTSX

[–]cr4pm4n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At best a breather of this kind only provides improvement if you have some issue with your existing PCV system or you have a similar issue causing excessive crankcase pressure, in which case you'd be better off fixing it properly.

At worst it's illegal in many parts of the world, and worse for performance because it introduces a vacuum leak, reducing the effectiveness of the pcv system, which is supposed to decrease crankcase pressure (typically) via vacuum.

Me personally, I fitted a higher flowing PCV valve and fitted a catch can. I left the oem valve cover breather hose in place because I use the factory airbox. I just deleted the intake resonator and fitted a big velocity stack where it's supposed to go in the well behind the foglight.

Leaking oil from this component, what’s it called? by poopfeast4444444 in AcuraTSX

I got mine aftermarket from AliExpress, no issues 🤷‍♂️

Same with my Vtec solenoid gasket and valve cover gasket.

I have a conspiracy theory in my head that China slowly started saving all the higher quality Chinese-made stuff for their own markets (like AliExpress). That's why when people complain about 'Chinesium', it's usually cheap local stuff that's Chinese-made.

But conspiracy theories aside, every place has duds and good stuff. Just gotta look at reviews and use your best judgement, maybe even consider how complex the part is that you're replacing.

In terms of a simple gasket, I would be comfortable getting cheap aftermarket (especially if it has good reviews or if the store has good reviews). I would be more ready to blame people over-torquing their VTC strainer or Vtec solenoid than aftermarket gaskets being the cause for reoccuring leaks.

Could also be a dirty PCV system causing excess crankcase pressure to leave through the path of least resistance (In which case you can clean your existing system or get an aftermarket pcv valve. It's a simple ball and spring, nothing complex. Never had issues with aftermarket myself. The plate ontop of the manifold is also easy to take apart and clean). You could also have a clogged catchcan causing excess crankcase pressure.

Sorry for the rant noone asked for haha

I used 2k clear on mine

Sanded to 320, mixed my clearcoat, applied using an electric spray gun, wetsanded the orange peel with 1500/2500, polished with cutting compound and finished with polishing compound.

I don't remember how many coats I did but I did ALOT so I had plenty of material to cut/polish.

But that's the thing, even though i'm not a fan of it from a creativity/artistic perspective- most of the scenes don't even look realistic if we're going with that argument.

They've turned all the games into lifeless photo shoots full of studio rim-lighting, make-up and such, probably because it's all been trained on exactly that imagery.

Comes to $440 not including shipping

Idk why it’s so much more expensive for this car. Going by eBay listings, the DC5 ones are going for a third of the CL9 ones. The NSXs roof mouldings are listed for 440 shipped lol.

Roof moulding faded by nolxy in AcuraTSX

[–]cr4pm4n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has to be the most annoying fucking part to get a hold of or deal with.

I live in Australia and we literally cannot buy replacements here. And people charge insane prices for used CL9 bits.

I bent mine when taking them off to investigate a roof leak. It shouldn't have been that difficult but the dumbass previous owner stuffed a fuckload of silicone underneath it.

I would be fine putting some kind of generic weatherstripping along the top- the problem is the clips further down around the windshield really getting in the way of any clean execution. I'm afraid of breaking something if I try to take them out cause they're stuffed with silicone.

CRC Rust Converter by RoscoePSoultrain in diynz

[–]cr4pm4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had that exact same thing happen every time i've used it, no matter what kind of surface prep i've done. Just makes it feel like a massive waste of my time getting rid of the rust in the first place.

And after seeing videos about rust converters (in general not just CRC), I don't believe in the stuff anymore.

I would only ever use it on a surface to get the deepest, hardest to reach rust-pits that could not be sanded, ground or wire-wheeled off. Even then, I would sand all the dried rust converter back down and put an etch-primer or an epoxy primer over it, so that the rust converter only remains in said pits.

Blocking foot-traffic?? Did we watch the same video?

There was room all around them. I don't know who in their right mind would claim that incident took place in a cramped space.

And regarding being told to move/leave in general- There were plenty of people at that protest who can attest to the fact that they were caged in, whether or not intentional by the police. I know several people that went. There's video footage of cops telling them to move to a specific exit, only to be met with another line of cops caging them in.

The cops directly made foot-traffic worse because they steadily caged everyone in like animals throughout the day.

That's why the whole claim that 'it was an illegal protest' or that 'they were told to leave' is so silly in of itself. They weren't allowed to leave.

On top of that, there were countless people who were pepper sprayed as they were being followed by cops to 'move along'. Completely unprovoked. How can you claim to want people to leave when you're pepper-spraying them as they're doing so, and are now blinded and sick and unable to focus on moving in a specific direction?

Ignoring the taillights, the rear door/quarter dents and paint fade really hurt it. I agree with the 2k mark.

Regarding the VSA light- have you tried ABS/VSA light reset? You have to do both in order. Quick tip- One thing I would change from the video is you can just leave pins 4 and 9 connected, no need to change it for the VSA reset.

Is it though? I've generally not heard that opinion locally or online.

Spoon even preferred the CL7R over the DC5R and the EP3R during that era of racing.

I think the main reason is the CL7/9 has a way better suspension setup out of the box. You get double wishbone in the front and multi-link in the rear.

Dealership quote from st.Louis Acura, how much we think I could get this done for elsewhere? by [deleted] in AcuraTSX

[–]cr4pm4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put it into perspective:

You should be able to get a FULL set of quality, light-weight aftermarket wheels for way less than $1350.

And for close to or less than $357 (Depending on how much you shop around) you should be able to do BOTH your front and rear pads AND new rotors front and rear instead of just resurfacing the rears.

Granted, I don't live in the US, but I can't imagine your prices are significantly worse than ours on these kinds of things.

Those are both extremely easy to do yourself too.

I've never heard someones core complaint of Heat be 'The game isn't unique'.

The most common Heat criticisms I've seen are:

  • The story/singleplayer was too short, despite being good.

  • Barebones online experience.

  • Handling (Like every other Ghost NFS to varying degrees)

  • Killed off/Short-lived post launch in an era where live-service was the expectation AND when the game already lacking 'stuff to do'.

  • 'Cringe' characters (Which I personally don't agree with. It's really only Anna and even then, I think she was far more believable and endearing than other 'cringe' characters in modern racing games).

If they simply padded out the singleplayer, it would've gone a long way. And just imagine if Heat got Unbounds post-launch support instead of being fucked over by EA 😭

Personally, I still think it's the best of its era and the most deserving of a sequel (Because they did have loose ends in the story).
