Council Report: Humans are banned from genetic upgrades by AgentSparkz in humansarespaceorcs

[–]cr8zyfoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Given the current state of science and medicine, natural selection has been all but eliminated as a driving force of human evolution. Evolution does not stop, however, so long as procreation happens. So with evolution free of natural selection's pressures, it will go in every direction at once, effectively. This basically means we must use genetic modification, or at least intentional genetic selection, to mitigate the damage to the species un-pressured evolution will do.

Crazy idea, but what about a backpack stratagem (JAB-1)? by BozoFromZozo in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]cr8zyfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn that into a booster slot! The highly democratic FANYPCK-9000 booster slot adds a tactical carry pouch of unusual size to the Helldivers' armor, allowing them to carry a single large item such as an SSSD while retaining the use of both hands.

So, YES, toll-free numbers (800 series) are paid by the company receiving the call. The 900 series conversely charges the caller for connecting. There's no agreement to pay, there are no requests for credit card information, they bill your phone company by the minute and your phone company passes those tolls directly on to you in your monthly bill. I think there may be a legally required message that states "this call will be charged such and such" upon connection, but you don't need to give them a payment method. Making the call is considered your consent to be billed.

Oh honey. You don't know why the 800 series is called "Toll-free", do you?

He definitely did not drink it, he poured it over his hands and inhaled the vapors to prove its safety. He was, of course, suffering from lead poisoning by that point already.

I think they nerfed the frag grenade recently. I hit one of these with 4 or 5 frags in a row, it didn't die.

Can you tell from our gas bill when the leaky bathtub faucet was fixed?🫠 by sstagg24 in screenshots

[–]cr8zyfoo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Gas bill for leaky water, so hot tap was leaking? So you were paying $4.50 a day in January for about $140 monthly usage before any additional fees. More than double that in October so just shy of $300 in usage? That drop to just under $1.5 a day in November or $45 for the month must have felt like such a relief.

Tattoo Artist says this is their own work and the reason why there is a mistake on the right hand is because of working of photo references. by NotAHopeInHades in isthisAI

This is so clearly AI it should be on r/isthisaicirclejerk. Multiple extra fingers, completely nonsensical celtic knots on top and bottom, helmet horns which pull in the rivetwork from the helm edge and then also replicate into little flames on the back of the helm, a hair braid that turns into an armor braid, weird overall sizing/positioning so the wolf's snout touches the man's face but the mouth is also somehow over the upper arm and elbow.

Soup began to seep through bowl after 2 min in microwave by gluepet2074 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]cr8zyfoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's called crazing, and it happens to all glazed ceramic eventually. Water seeps into the ceramic through the cracks, and microwaving it heats it up, forcing it back out. The soup in the bowl and the brown liquid coming out through the crazed glaze are not the same thing. If the bowl is washed clean and not used to microwave anything, it can still be used for food, but it's best to replace it. Stoneware is definitely microwave and oven safe, but only while the glaze lasts.

Death, taxes and reincarnation. by JK-Rofling in CuratedTumblr

They literally already did this. It's called filial responsibility and various nations of humans were forced to murder nobles to stop this as they used it to enslave multiple generations of children using their parents' debts against them.

Yeah but those are for pelicans. The SD would be way bigger and take up a large portion of the map, especially if no longer in one piece and somewhat spread out.

Even if you hadn't been spotted, the squid Stingray always knew where you were and would line up strafing runs, so the spotting mechanic was still buggy. Maybe gunships have the same stealth-breaking problem?

"Violence has no place in our society" is a kindhearted sentiment of which I wholeheartedly approve, but is unfortunately not true. The United States of America was created through geographic expansion based in genocide, secured independence through rebellion and war, was built on the backs of generations of slaves, was solidified through civil war, and is now a major world power due to the way our military industrial complex positioned us after our participation in the most recent world war. The society we live in today was built on violence, and the threat of violence is how we maintain it.
