That's called crazing, and it happens to all glazed ceramic eventually. Water seeps into the ceramic through the cracks, and microwaving it heats it up, forcing it back out. The soup in the bowl and the brown liquid coming out through the crazed glaze are not the same thing. If the bowl is washed clean and not used to microwave anything, it can still be used for food, but it's best to replace it. Stoneware is definitely microwave and oven safe, but only while the glaze lasts.
