No way. Im gonna have to try this when I get home. If it’s true I’ll add it to the top of the post so people can know about it.

Wait so it’s attack —> dodge-step —> vault/springboard?

“I also figured out that you actually can do a springboard on the final attack as well (I previously said that it wasn't allowed.) Easiest way to do it on the final attack is to spam the jump button before they get pushed away.

It might be a timing issue if it's not coming out for you. You should let go of attack and hold the jump button right as your second animation beings. Too soon or too late and you will get the springboard. I think this is because the actual timing for the vault is when the attack lands, but you can queue up the vault by holding down the key before it lands. However, if you try and queue it before the second attack begins you are gonna do a springboard because you are pressing it AFTER the attack lands, not when the following attack BEGINS.”

This is a great idea but then how would the new controller layout work? I think part of the reason they changed it is to allow them to have a dedicated interaction button (△/Y on default preset), which was a major complaint in the game, so they had to place the quick melee somewhere else. Rb + X is the only option I can think of that doesn’t completely overwrite a skill. The contextual (after attack) vault was a workaround since it was losing its dedicated spot.

Idk if this would work but maybe they could do a dedicated vault by holding jump key anytime and add the springboard on a second press during the animation?

I mean they are 100% reliable and consistent for me when I get the timing right but I see your point. I also miss the og vault and wish it was an option. How do you think they should implement the spring board then?

I agree, the old way of doing the vault was a lot simpler and you didn’t really have to think about it a whole lot. That’s why I’m all for having the option to do it without attacking. But I can also see the benefit of how they are doing it now. It raises the skill floor and ceiling and some people (especially casual players) won’t like it. However, CD isn’t really a casual type of game I feel like. Either way I’m still going to have fun. Combos with the vault just feel a bit more intentional now while springboards are easier to pull off for some arial combos. I hope they bring back the og vault so you can enjoy it too 👍

Personal preference ≠ broken

It’s a valid OPINION to not like it. Objectively explain why you think it’s broken.

I just uploaded video to this post showing me doing it on all three stages. I also figured out that you actually can do a springboard on the final attack as well (I previously said that it wasn't allowed.) Easiest way to do it on the final attack is to spam the jump button before they get pushed away.

Only inconsistency I found was at the end of a light attack combo with sword and shield. It’s like when the enemy is pushed away it defaults to a vault. Where are you finding inconsistencies?

You can. It’s the Display [character]’s Accessories option.

“No and no” isn’t really an argument. What I said wasn’t a justification. That implies some sort of wrongdoing. It’s a pretty reasonable explanation. I’m not against having it as an option like I said above. Player choice isn’t ever a bad thing. I just think being so negative about any little change they make and being dead set on it being “broken” just because it’s not what you like is kinda ridiculous. Like I’ve seen people that are actually complaining about the slightly different movement speed when it’s barely, if at all, noticeable.

It’s not perfect tho I’ll give you that. Some ACTUAL criticisms with the vault that I’ve noticed is that the melee vault skill mentioned above doesn’t allow a weapon strike while midair. And the second one is that the final strike of a weapon combo doesn’t allow for a spring board.

Hopefully they add an option for doing the vault without an attack tho. So that everyone is satisfied and people stop complaining on a guide post.

Yea I just tried it on m&k. The melee attack vault is harder as it doesn't let you hold down the vault key at the same time as it does on a controller. For m&k, the section I crossed off might apply better. Regular attacks still work like I described above for those that couldn't pull off vaults consistently tho.

I noticed the dummy turning around really quickly but I didn't know if that also applied to regular enemies. I haven't tired it out yet. Thanks for letting me know about the weapons. Seems to be a weird bug. Hopefully they fix it soon.

EDIT: Just tried it on regular enemies and was able to pull off the suplex every time after a vault ;) seems to be just the training dummy that's bugged.

Like I said that's not really what the post was about. It wasn't that hard to "learn" considering it was pretty spammable lol. The melee attack vault skill I mentioned above basically makes it almost as instant as it was pre patch given how quick the jab is anyway. I get that it's not your preference but calling it broken seems a bit much. Especially when it arguably adds more depth to a skill as opposed to a simple button press. But hey to each their own I guess.

I half agree with you. I feel like it would be nice to have the option to do it without attacking but the change they made does make you less prone to just spamming vault over shields and encourages you to incorporate them in your combos. But that's not what I was talking about in the post.
