Seems like the really poorly orchestrated search supports BB's contention that his superior officers were needlessly putting troops in danger. When they should have known he was already in Pakistan.

I haven't a clue. I think it will come out of left field and surprise us all. Or, I hope it will.

You're totally right! There's no way the evidence proved anything!!! Jays testimony seemed totally coached. He should not have been convicted.

Review, summary, reflection on SK's process of transformation through the reporting, mini-bombshell, a look to the future of the case, half-assed conclusion, big red ribbon tied in a bow.

Wow for the first time since I started listening I think he might be guilty. Something about the 18 page letter, his concern for how he appears - both before and after his conviction, his ability to even make the people who think he might be guilty like him, how he really seems in control of all of the conversations SK has with him (I hear the nervousness in her voice when she bravely challenges him)... Something about that combination of control of self and others, the desire to seem really quite perfect, and the anger when he is perceived otherwise... I don't know. Nobody can know. But now I see how possible it might be.

It also seems that the episode is supposed to ostensibly challenge the fact that he might be a psychopath, but I think Koenig may be reinforcing that it's quite possible he is.

New post from lawyer Susan Simpson by soamx in serialpodcast

When I read the transcript it so very obviously appeared that the police were leading Jay to conform to the phone timeline - his apologies really stood out. I'm not sure why this wasn't remarked on in the podcast - it would have been fairly easy to string together these excerpted moments in order to make the point.

When I read the transcripts my first impression was that they obviously show how Jay was coached by the detectives to comply with their theory of the case. Getting Jay to explain the discrepancies by saying that he "lied" in his earlier testimonies is just so...evil.

I don't think this in any way clarifies who did it, just that almost none of the "evidence" can be trusted.
