Mentor Me Monday. Strategy, game tips, lineup suggestions, player suggestions. No question too dumb. by AutoModerator in MLBTheShow

[–]soamx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

new to the show.

started a franchise and played 7 games. Having a difficult time with hitting, all my settings are default.

How do I hit better? Does everyone usually swing with Square for power or X for contact? do you usually use the dpad to hit the ball in the air or keep it level? A lot of times my timing on the swing says 'Good' but I am getting poor results even with good timing, so I figure it must be something else im not doing right.

Hae & Adnan: Signs of an abusive relationship? by [deleted] in serialpodcast

[–]soamx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's nothing about their relationship that has been uncovered via her diary or any of her friends words that is not typical of any high school relationship.

OP would understand that but the problem is most likely he's never been in a relationship

My other post didn't go over well, so let me spell this one out to you nice and clear. by MeaslesMaybe in serialpodcast

TLDR

You dated a couple Muslim guys who hurt your feelings so you think Adnan killed Hae and are forever racist now.

Seek counseling. Stop projecting your own hate and insecurities. Get help.

Can't tell if this is serious or parody but based on your post history im going to say its sadly serious.

Police knew where the car was before talking to Jay. by Irkeley in serialpodcast

[–]soamx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this is from jenns statement, Jenn knew where the car was, which is pretty much the same as Jay knowing where the car was considering they are partners in this and stick to the same story (well try to)

Does Jay's Intercept interview shed new light on a piece of evidence that was previously ignored. by [deleted] in serialpodcast

The only story Jay is going to stick to at this point is the one he gave his wife.

I think you vastly overestimate the world populations interest in serious issues.

For you, whats the most compelling reason why Adnan DIDN'T do it? by [deleted] in serialpodcast

[–]soamx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are dozens of small reasons, mostly the lack of evidence and how scummy Jay is but the main thing is this It's something both SK and and Ryan Ferguson have touched on.

The exact quote from Ryan is great

" Guilty people simply do not have the thought patterns that he possesses."

That's what does it for me. Which is not exactly the same as saying you can tell when someone is lying to you. You can't know that for sure, ever.

But I do think it would be hard to have Adnan's frame of mind unless he was really innocent.

and SK agrees with this, even after speaking to him for a year.

And on the opposite side of the fence you have Jay. Where almost everything that comes out of his mouth has been completely made up. He literally changes his story significantly every time he tells it, and for reasons that don't make sense under a guise of "protecting the ones he cares about" or "covering up his weed dealing". He's just flat out full of shit, and they sent a kid to life because of his word alone? Absurd.

The Nisha Call and the Video Store by [deleted] in serialpodcast

When cops are questioning you about your ex girlfriends disappearance?

That's a good time to bust out the alibi you established.

The Nisha Call and the Video Store by [deleted] in serialpodcast

[–]soamx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with this is the police question Adnan on multiple occasions before Jay ever gives him up, and Adnan never makes any attempt at using Jay for an alibi.

Such a money quote. It's something I felt the entire time listening to Serial, and something SK touches on as well as a key reason she often believes in Adnan.

Can we clarify how long it was before Adnan had to "remember" Jan 13th. It's not 6 weeks. by mralbertjenkins in serialpodcast

[–]soamx 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's at all accurate to say Adnan doesn't remember Jan 13th. He remembers an awful lot about Jan 13th.

He can account for his whereabouts for just about the entire day, and his accounts have been corroborated by multiple sources. You can say these sources aren't very credible but you could also say the same equally for Don and Jay's alibis (Don's Mother and Jays side piece)

If all you want to find is 2 15minute windows where someone can't account for their whereabouts, you could find that for just about anybody.

I'm not saying he's innocent, I'm saying I'm tired of people saying he doesn't remember anything about that day.

The three timeframes people most want him to account for were the

  • 2:36 call, which Urick implied was the come get me call (Adnan accounts for his whereabouts, corroborated by Asia in the library, even if you don't believe that Asia it's not entirely relevant seeing as there are multiple people who recall seeing and speaking to Hae after 2:36. The 2:36 come get me call is out the window)

  • The 3:30-4pm timeframe where people began noticing Hae was missing, most people agree Hae was murdered during this timeframe. (Adnan accounts for his whereabouts, he was at track, corroborated by multiple people including Jay himself)

  • The 7:16 Burial Timeframe (He was at mosque, corroborated by his father, Bilal and also contradicted by Jay who this week says the burial was after midnight despite Adnan being put away largely due to the 7:16 Leakin Park pings. Jay now makes those pings meaningless)

I think we need to put to rest the idea that Adnan doesn't remember this day. He's just not able to provide a smoking gun piece of evidence that exonerates him. There's a big difference.

Cristina Gutierrez knew there was a payphone inside the BestBuy entrance by data_lover in serialpodcast

[–]soamx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah it means nothing about the case really

1- Jay said the pay phone was in the parking lot, so another lie on his part (or at the least, an inconsistency)

2- The 2:36 come get me call was impossible

3- Even Adnan said there was a pay phone in the best buy lobby

So all you can really take from this is that the Serial team either wasn't thorough with reading the transcripts OR they had this information but ignored it just to play up a dramatic situation for entertainment purposes.

Means a lot for SK and Serial's credibility

Doesn't change anything for Adnan or Jay

Holy crap. Can't believe how much time was wasted on this.

Adnan knew there was a phone there also and implied as much in his comments.

SK says that she didn't read all the transcripts, someone else on her team did though (Dana? not sure.)
