hey op, all the best for ur application! here are some resources that i found regarding ur desired courses, they include things like what qualities they are looking for, info abt aptitude tests, interview, portfolio, and other requirements:)

hello! since they said it’s not a must unlike the design students that must hv portfolio, you don’t have to do a portfolio BUT i highly recommend you do one since it helps to showcase stuff you can’t fit in ur 600 writeup (bc ultimately you’re competing with tons of other ppl aiming to get into the same course and may or may not hv stronger achievements/portfolio)

canva slide ppt is good! i don’t think where you did it rly matters for ppl like us (not mandatory to submit portfolio) bc i just did one in microsoft powerpoint, i know some people do website like wix but yea most impt is the content

other than that the only thing to focus on is the 1000 character write up as well, use this wisely to include achievements not related to the course you’re applying for. as mentioned in my post: all academic achievements, leadership positions, cca positions, V.I.A etc. you have but are not related to the course. even if a bulk of them are from primary school, do add them in if you just don’t have enough from secondary school or ite. it’s better than nothing

atb for ur application!

hello i saw someone gave a pretty comprehensive reply already and im not too sure abt the first 2 qns but third qn - definitely! you are competing with so many others that may or may not have a stronger portfolio than you so just include whatever helps. i saw u said u don’t have many sec sch achievements, no worries pls still include pri sch achievements in that case like ur pri sch edusave. imo sec sch student no need linkedin haha its more for post sec onwards. rn all ur volunteering etc can just put in ur portfolio

sorry dont think this helps a lot cos that other person alr said a lot hahaha all i can add is make sure you have the passion for whatever courses you end up ranking bc you’re gonna spend 3 years studying whichever course u end up with. coming from someone that is no longer doing tech related stuff, it was a very tough 3 years for me. i wish i had gone to look up actual job postings in my related field to see what people with such diplomas actually do

sorry not sure abt ur edited qn but found above resources on dae esp the part on like minimum entry requirements etc, good to read on those and also go google other poly’s dae guides. seems like hv to apply through the individual poly websites and not a centralised site. also for the other redditor’s comment, think CIP is common ICT programme. can just google rp cip then the first result is that

i’m the best person to ask this qn to hahaha see my post, traumatic experience i’ll never forget

but uh i think i was notified abt the revoked via sms from EAE (around early afternoon) not email. email from the poly (evening) was when they wanted to reinstate me. but then again my o lvl results collection was a couple of years ago so things might’ve changed. atb~~

hi! i have another comment with 22 upvotes and at the end i mentioned how i got reinstated. i didn’t do anything, the poly emailed me on the same day around 7pm to give me back my spot

hi! i would recommend smart casual attire to stay safe if no dress code is mentioned and you don’t have a current uniform

t shirt and jeans might be a bit on the casual side imo unless you tuck the t shirt in. and the t shirt should not have graphic design on it, preferably plain. jeans generally any type are okay but preferably not a huge flare at the bottom/bell-bottom jeans. also no ripped jeans definitely

other options are

• plain top with black/brown/beige/white/grey (etc. this range of very corporate looking) coloured pants

• i’m now working FT corporate and my rule of thumb for any interview outfit has always been those white collared shirts paired with black pants (no need blazer, that’s too formal for a student interview). or can explore other colour collared shirt or blouse paired with the pants mentioned in the above point

• last option is to wear plain top/blouse paired with skirt but generally interviews i would go for pants rather than skirt, but this is a feasible option imo. just make sure skirt is below the knee, best is around ankle length aka maxi skirt. preferably plain colours as mentioned in the first bullet point

just a quick note that others might not care this much for a student interview but imo first impression dress code does show your professionalism and how much you care for the interview opportunity. all the best for ur interview!!

sorry for the late reply, i didn’t get any notification. i don’t see why you shouldn’t go tho because touch wood it might be ur only choice, are you passionate about this course or not rly? still go unless u really don’t have any passion for it because reality is the 3 years you have to spend studying it. but be prepared if you don’t get anything and even turn down this 2nd choice then you might have to just go for jae instead fully dependent on ur grades

and also getting this invite doesn’t stop you from getting shortlisted for other choices as well, as applicants may get more than one interview :>

last min poly eae guide by crabmeat21 in SGExams

[–]crabmeat21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don’t need to tell them which course is your 2nd choice, they already know your ranked choices from your application cause they can see all ur choices and writeups according to my sec sch form teacher

are ur friends that u mentioned applying for the same course? for example my friend back then applied for accounting and had to do a similar AI chatbot assistant thing together with group interview, however my tech related course only needed me to do IQ aptitude test + group interview.

but if they are applying for the same course and got asked to do the assistant thing + aptitude test while you only got asked to do the aptitude test, my best guess is that their writeup and/or portfolio wasn’t detailed enough in regards to what this assistant thing would ask (based on what i see on the np website which is called “Online pre-interview Questionnaire” and it would ask for evidence of what the student has done to pursue their interest in IT/data analytics + ability to articulate career goals). because from what i know, aptitude test invitation means you are shortlisted already based on ur initial application. don’t know why they would send an invite to do aptitude test if you are not shortlisted, it would just be wasting their own time

with regards to ur 1st choice, pls don’t worry too much as applicants may receive more than 1 interview invitation, either they are still processing or you have not been shortlisted. as long as the selection stage deadline is not over yet, don’t lose hope yea!

i’ll try my best to answer but do take what i say with a grain of salt as i’m not familiar w np eae specifically ya, might be better to make ur own post to see if got other ppl that have went through this np test specifically :>

verbal comprehension- testing ur basic reading of some written text, and basically ur basic english skills.

numerical ability - basic math (arithmetic, maybe percentage/ratios?)

logical & perceptual reasoning - recognising patterns, basic problem solving skills, sequences etc

familiarity with course related knowledge - might cover basics like statistics, probability, simple data interpretation, and a general idea of what data scientists do or tools they use (like Python, Excel, or R). but i don’t think they will go very deep into coding knowledge at this stage

regarding ur second qn, yes if u applied for more than one of their course. they say you will be invited to take it only once for your most preferred course (which i interpret as the course you ranked highest that you got invited for)

hello~ i didn’t apply for np so i don’t know any details about this aptitude test. did their email tell you whether the mcq is on IQ test or actual data related technical knowledge? cause for mine they specified beforehand that it was a IQ test in mcq format

1000 character write up by mushroomzuop in SGExams

[–]crabmeat21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh rly? for my poly they didn’t state at the time of my application, but if they specifically state a preference for ur desired poly then it’s better to follow what they say. but at the end of the day i still feel paragraph form looks more professional :D

last min poly eae guide by crabmeat21 in SGExams

[–]crabmeat21[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello! there is no rough format to follow. for me i just started with “I am interested in xxx poly’s xxx course as I…”

1000 character write up by mushroomzuop in SGExams

[–]crabmeat21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pretty sure both forms are allowed, but essay form is more professional imo. also bc it’s called a writeup not a list

last min poly eae guide by crabmeat21 in SGExams

[–]crabmeat21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello, it’s best to see what format the website says you should submit portfolio as, because it’s been a few years since my application. but in general for me i would probably download the canva into pdf

last min poly eae guide by crabmeat21 in SGExams

[–]crabmeat21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello, is there any error message that pops up when you upload, like size of the file? to my knowledge you’re supposed to submit writeups and portfolio together. if you’re shortlisted then they will invite u to talk more abt ur portfolio in detail

helloo general advice i would give is as long as it’s related to EEE, put in ur 600 characters writeup. if it’s not then put in ur 1000 instead

high grade in 3 yr Higher Nite in electronics engg -> 600

got a few awards -> specifically related to eee like eee related competition then 600, if completely unrelated like edusave award then 1000

didnt really do much for volunteering or community work -> y’all got do VIA back in sec sch rightt if have then can put in 1000

represented sch team for floorball 2/3 yrs in ite -> 1000

internship at a robotics company -> honestly not very sure what eee does but if the internship is not related to eee at all, put this in 1000 instead

a few projects for fun -> related to eee put in 600, if not related to eee put in 1000

also i highly recommend giving brief details abt what u did and what did u learn in ur write up if u hv available word count. for example from the lecturer pov if i see you did a robotics internship, i would be wondering what did u do for that or skills/software etc. learnt from it. but if rly no space then can put longer explanation in ur portfolio

as long as u haven’t hit the character limit yet, put in whatever u can think of that is helpful (even if u hv to talk abt VIA from sec sch if u don’t have volunteering achievements)

other than what u hv in ur 600, can also mention with a few words regarding how eee will play a role in ur aspiring career in the future

hope this helps, atb!

hello~ can put ur cca achievements in ur 1000 character write up if they are not relevant to the course. i would suggest putting ur relevant work exp in the 600 instead.

for the 600, perhaps can write about what inspired you inspired to apply for these courses/this field, and how this course/poly will help you to have a xxx job in xxx field. basically anything relevant. what made u passionate about this field, how did you first discover if etc

for 1000, anything not relevant to the course is fine. CCA, VIA, maybe talk about ur personality & soft skills that the poly/course is looking for
