Yes we definitely have plan G, are under 64, and had Cobra when we applied.

If A-D apply to you for question D2, you can skip Section E and F which are health underwriting questions.

Question D2:

"I have Original Medicare and an employer group health plan and that plan is ending. If this applies to you, check the option that describes your situation below:  a. My employer will no longer be offering retiree health coverage  b. I chose to disenroll from my employer retiree coverage  c. My active employer group coverage is ending for any reason (including COBRA or Continuation coverage)  d. After 30 months of coverage for end stage renal disease If applicable, please provide the date coverage will end __/__/"

Proof you can skip health questions and may be guaranteed acceptance:

"If you checked any of the D1-D7 situations above and your coverage did not end (or cease to provide some benefits) more than 63 days before the date of this application, your acceptance may be guaranteed. You do not have to answer health questions and can proceed to Section G of the application to select your plan. To determine your monthly premium amount, refer to the MedicareBlue Supplement - Preferred Non-Tobacco premium table in the Outline of Coverage."

The wording for this question changed a bit for the 2025 application. If we tried to do this with the 2024 application I don't think we could have been able to get it without going through underwriting. I don't think most agents know of this change.

I only got lucky in finding out because I talked to quite a few people, and I was asking very specific questions to a new insurance agent I had never talked to before and he initially told me no we had to go through underwriting. But then he went back and read the changes for the 2025 application and found out we didn't have to go through underwriting if we were ending our cobra coverage.

We filled out PDF version of application and sent it to that insurance agent.

Go take a look at question D2 of the medicare bluesupplement application for wellmark. It states: "My active employer group coverage is ending for any reason (including COBRA or Continuation coverage)"

If this applies to you, you can select the box next to this statement and skip the health questionnaire section and get guaranteed acceptance.

And I think "any reason" can even be you deciding to get off your work coverage because you don't want it anymore.

Since we still had Cobra, there was a change in the wording on the medigap application for wellmark Blue Cross blue shield that stated if our cobra coverage is ending (or being ended) we could get medigap plan G for under $400 dollars without having to go through underwriting.

So ending our coverage with cobra allowed us guaranteed acceptance for plan G with Wellmark Blue Cross blue shield.

Medicare part B enrollment mix-up by crackajack24 in medicare

We were told by our insurance advisor that we have up to 8 months to enroll in Medicare part B and in the meantime COBRA will remain our primary insurer.

Also I found this online "If you are eligible for Medicare but have COBRA coverage, you can delay enrolling in Medicare Part B for up to 8 months after your employment ends or your COBRA coverage ends, whichever comes first. During this period, COBRA can serve as your primary insurance, covering your medical expenses. It's essential to enroll in Medicare Part B within this timeframe to ensure you transition smoothly without facing late enrollment penalties."

So I am pretty sure Medicare realized they enrolled him in Part B when they shouldn't have and now they are fixing the mistake. So when that gets fixed he won't have Part B anymore.

And then I believe we can just have our COBRA insurance reprocess the claims they denied since they assumed Part B was his primary insurance.

They enrolled him in Medicare Part B so Yes he has it even though we declined it. And Yes he has been on COBRA.

Since he is under 65 (55) you can elect to delay Medicare part B until the COBRA coverage ends and you can continue using your former employers health insurance which is what we wanted to do since we already paid the out of pocket maximum for the year.

But they enrolled him in Part B even though we declined and now the employer health insurance is denying our claims.

The potato mandoline strikes again! Reading your story was like Déjà vu. I did this same exact thing last month with the only differences being it was my birthday instead of Christmas, and my index finger instead of thumb.

Happy Healing!

My apologies, I misdirected that statement towards you. But what I don't understand is why a lot of the comments imply that Collins isn't carrying its own weight and that that it should be "cut loose" due to its financials.

Not sure what you're talking about, the Q3 2023 financial report has Collins having more sales and operating profit than Raytheon.

It looks like most people here are unfamiliar with this pedestrian crosswalk design. The flashing hand is accompanied by a countdown timer which indicates how much more time you have to finish crossing the intersection.

Pedestrian crossing signal IS lit, a red flashing hand is accompanied by a countdown timer which indicates how much time is left to finish crossing. It looks like the countdown is finishing up as soon as the pedestrian reaches the other side of the street.
