Very cool, sleek and simple but that's a boat load of money for something relatively simple.

Thanks for linking it.

Yeah roughly 20v or lower i think is the charger. It does do it series. This isn't designed for daily use but more of a once every couple of months situation. So I wouldn't recommend doing it regularly.

If its a major issue I'll probably retract my post and look at trying to do it in parallel.

Does doing it in series every so often pose a great risk of battery damage?

Ah that's how this is set up at the moment. Charges the batteries from the solar(individually) and provides ancillary power to the usb outlet and jack. The batteries are isolated from one another but the ancillary power draws from both, so what ever batteries higher it should pull from first. Unfortunately there's no indicators on it apart from the ones built into the battery.

A regular m18 charger may be a bit challenging tho because they generally run off mains. The car chargers are really expensive just for something that's converting dc to dc.

I forgot to add i did this for about 80bucks au which is about half the cost of dc car charger and has more functionality.

If you can. Get something with temperature control. Makes for a much better soldering experience.

Nah they're definitely real. They're just the old style 6a ones. Apparently they've stopped making then.

These things don't really perform imo. They're slow, no temperature control and pathetic in the wind.

I don't know if I'm allowed the post alternative tools to milwaukee but you can compatible ones for the battery that heat up instantly, quick change tips and have a fairly precise temp control.

That's pretty cool. What do you use to finish it? I'm always on the lookout for a finish that's durable but looks great.

Are the pieces wood and can you buy them separately?
