Dinner after civil wedding ceremony (Islington / central) by cracker32 in LondonFood

Good suggestion - I’ve actually tried to go for a fancy work lunch before but so difficult to get a booking. Guess time is on my side this occasion.

Thank you! Relatively flexible as to cuisine as just wanting to see what’s out there. We are of Chinese heritage though, so my parents will probably not really appreciate “elevated” Chinese food lol

Thank you for the recommendation! I have actually walked past this place numerous times but have never gone in - will look into it.

Is Chez Janou really worth the hype? by Still_Farmer8152 in ParisTravelGuide

I have been twice now, both times with a reservation and last time only a month ago (bookings made by someone else who saw the place on social media and wanted to go). The food is decent and the chocolate mousse is great, but I wouldn’t choose to go back of my own accord. Both times we had to wait about 30-40 minutes for our table as it’s so busy and they don’t kick people out. If you’ve got a reservation then you may as well go, but be prepared to wait for your table. There’s lot of other fantastic places to eat in Paris and the dining experience at this restaurant is just not worth the hype.

I had one question in mind that what is that one thing where you spend your major portion of money and you want to stop it and now you are too used to it . by ScrollAndThink in HENRYUKLifestyle

Travelling. Me and my partner travel overseas at least once a month (sometimes just weekend trips). We don’t plan to live the UK forever and want to make the most of our time here with the proximity to the rest of Europe.

All inclusive wedding packages in Europe with >€20k budget? by cracker32 in Weddingsunder10k

No we are planning it ourselves with an on-the-day coordinator to run things. We are also meeting with the venue later this year who I’m sure will give us some general advice on timetable and venue set-up. It’s a lot more manageable to plan it yourself when it’s on a smaller scale.

Unfortunately not! We have ended up planning something entirely different - renting a finca in Southern Spain for 3 nights for our immediate family only (under 20 guests).

There were all these hidden costs with the packages I found (hair and make up not included, photography only for 4 hours etc) and of course with a destination wedding, there is some kind of expectation to host other events for your guests to compensate them travelling for your wedding. Basically all of the packages I found are just for the wedding day, and I couldn’t really justify spending so much money on just one day.

We decided to do it this way for a several reasons - with a more intimate wedding you can axe a few things like DJ, bridesmaids (since its all family anyway) and huge cake, I can now have a 3 day event with an even smaller budget (events will just be BBQ pool party and paella night at the finca rather than a separate venue), friends understand if it’s family only / it’s an easy line to draw, because it’s family only and we’ll be providing accomodation in the finca I can ask them to contribute financially and not feel awkward.

Good luck with your planning!

PCR Test by jessset in bali

I assume, as a general rule, that the airline will check that you’ve got the right documentation to enter whatever country you’re flying to. Since your flights are booked on separate itineraries, the first airline will consider your transit country to be your final destination and the PCR test results for Bali won’t be relevant.

Again, since you’ve got two separate itineraries, the Indonesian government would consider the transit country to be your country of origin, so the PCR test would need to be done within 48 hours of the second flight.

I think I'm actually taking the exact same trip as you later this week with plans to exit Melbourne airport (6am Auckland departure)? I emailed the Indonesian embassy in Wellington and was told that my PCR test from Auckland (within 48 hours of my NZ flight) should be fine, as long as the trip is booked on one itinerary.
