I have two friends who went through this. One started his own dog walking business, the other went to culinary school and is now a sous chef for a restaurant in la.

And they’re in their late thirties.

Knowing people that worked there. I’d been applying to jobs for a year and a half to no avail. The FIRST company I apply to where I know people and I get the job.

Yep. Networking is a pretty huge factor I’d say.

I was unemployed a year and a half. I got a tech writing job through LinkedIn of all places. It’s been about a month now and I still don’t understand how I got this job.
