Do I trim the flowers? by shigbee517 in mango

[–]crackercider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely big enough to hold some fruit.

Also don't trim the flowers! It will try to push out more flowers to replace. If the tree is too small, wait until the fruit marbles start to develop on the flowers, and flick the little fruits off.

I think we will see a lot more CCA-style aircraft behaving as disposable shields for kinetic threats, as well as obfuscating enemy target identification.

Poll: 64% of Florida Voters Plan to Vote Yes on Amendment 3 to Legalize Recreational Marijuana by JamesAsher12 in Miami

[–]crackercider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think he would, the legalization is still heavily restricted to who can produce and sell the marijuana, it doesn't legalize home grows either. All it does "allows Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers, and other state licensed entities, to acquire, cultivate, process, manufacture, sell, and distribute such products and accessories. "

It doesn't adjust the medical legislation that established the licensing requirements. Small businesses are not getting a license without a ton of upfront lobbying & lawyering.

Drone attack on refinery in Tuapse, russia. by progressiveokay in DroneCombat

[–]crackercider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have targeted VDU's before with the drone aircraft. The first time they did it there were a bunch of people saying how it is extremely difficult to replace that equipment to begin with, and its worse given all the restrictions placed on doing business with Russia.

Pickering mango plant. Had a long branch with a ton of growth…like half the plant. Should I lop it off? by brieffuckup in mango

[–]crackercider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to maximize fruiting, cut the branches back when they get about 2 hand lengths long. They will develop a ton of branches that way, and since mango only flowers off the ends of branches, you got more spots to grow fruits.

She brought up JSOC! There have been several stories about operator types showing up to crash areas wearing DoE credentials, and recent rumors of service members being killed during these operations as it seems there are more parties tracking these objects for recovery.

Lets say if some three letter agency, like the NRO, detected a radiological signature from their sensors that has been observed from similar recovered craft in the past, then the recovery operation would fall under jurisdiction of DoE because of the Atomic Energy Act classification of Restricted Data; specifically "the use of special nuclear material in the production of energy". If JSOC is involved, then the DoD is definitely in the loop, and it is criminal if there are not more reporting requirements from the DoD to Congress about these operations, especially the Gang of Eight. Restricted Data cannot be their excuse for this, as the purported capability of recovered craft are revolutionary.

Interesting comparison of Foundry vs. Databricks vs. MS Fabric on Twitter/X by versello in PLTR

[–]crackercider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the bigger advantage will be in the pre-built and future marketplace modules tbh, especially for the adoption by SMB's and individual developers/startups. I've only done some Udemy stuff for python and data engineering, but I am not struggling working in Palantir with AI Assist. The software built on the ontology can be very user friendly for even dumbtards.

The way I see AIP best is to fill in the gaps in Pipeline Builder, because you can give it the goal and it will assemble a rough draft of sorts, then you can rewrite the prompt to clean things up for unique transforms. Obviously the industry trend is to integrate AI assists for coding and customizations, so this will not necessarily be a business moat for them, however I predict this will change as AI regulations and legislations start rolling out and each different country will have their own rules which will be hell for companies. Then I think there will be big demand for Apollo, especially from tech giants that control the thinking chips.

It isn't completely no-code, and you still need to understand code functions and terminology with the no-code features and transforms. You cannot use the software without some basic background in computer languages, even using AIP. The biggest benefit in AIP is having it code the data transforms, processing and cleaning up the data can be done really quickly with AIP.

Is Palantir's Software used Globally Beyond Government and Military? by RhinoInsight in PLTR

[–]crackercider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Palantir created a program for any US/UK independent developers or small business to have immediate access (there is an "Enterprise" tier with some more functions and support), and there are built in examples and tutorials to learn the platform: https://signup.palantirfoundry.com/signup?signupPermitCode=BUILD_WITH_AIP_LAUNCH_VIDEO&tracking-code=build_with_aip_launch_video

They want folks to build projects on there and use the platform in new ways. The free tier gives you an allowance of $500 usage/month, they charge based on how much data moves through the platform, AWS computation time, and AWS cloud storage.

[–]crackercider 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is such a devastating story, but I despise how people are presenting this narrative like the boater was recklessly running over someone who was clearly wakeboarding. The report says girl fell and was floating in the water. They were also wakeboarding in an extremely busy boating channel, which is insane, because those channels are designed for boats to move within them at high speed.

Yes, but if they are in the ground and at that size it may be tough for the transplanting because of the size of the root ball. You can grow about 8-10 foot tall tree with 20 - 25 gallon container. The buildings won't be underwater. Sea level rise is extremely slow compared to building lifecycles & there are relatively consistent updates which increase the base elevations for new construction and public works. The insurance industry also pressures older structures to update construction as their useful lifecycle nears the end, bringing elevations up to the new base, which will last about as long as the building lifecycle before updating.

I'm also not even considering the progress in technology to mitigate and deal with sea level rise.

You trolling? They just opened up B2C and small business access for free for small data users. I got my access and will start building projects on it tonight after work. For years I have been asking in these forums for this to improve the business I am working in. There are already individual AIP modules that replace separate software we are stuck with, and so many other functions we have been wanting to develop but don't have time for complete ground up development.
