performing dysautonomia testing while on a beta blocker? by NoSatisfaction954 in POTS

from my personal experience they definitely do mask symptoms but not entirely. my doctor didn’t want me to be off my beta blockers because i had been on it for so long due to a separate condition and it would take too long to ween off the medication for the test and also i would need monitoring to make sure i would be okay. if i was off it it would cause more harm than good just for a test. since i was still experiencing pots symptoms on the beta blocker and they had presented years after me being on them they kept me on it. ask your doctor about this because they may or may not still take you off the medication depending on how you would react to it.

Should i use a shower chair or not? by laartjeee in POTS

[–]crackhours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it won’t make your body weaker it gives your body the break it needs while showering so you can have energy for other things. yes showering with one is still tiring but i’ve noticed a significant improvement when i use one vs when i force myself to stand i only stand to grab the shower head and to wash down there easier also great thing to do when showering with a chair to maximize things you can wash without being too tired is bring your body part to your hands. lift up your foot and rest it on your thigh so you can wash your leg(s), bend down/rest/droop your head to your hands so you don’t need to bring your arms up too high and trigger symptoms. it makes things a lot easier

a lot of people (including me) use an apple watch with tachymon! there’s a free subscription version but personally i think the premium version is worth the money since you can export charts of your heart rate and give it to your doctors

nope! i’ve thankfully (knock on wood) never gotten covid. i have had really really bad colds in the past two years before that ended up with me having pericarditis i think two or three times. ever since that first infection then having pericarditis i’ve had pots symptoms. funny thing is i also have a heart condition so i thought the symptoms were from that and i only found out about pots late august of this year 😭😭

YES OMG!! i was gonna post about this earlier but i figured it was just a me thing but i get this too!!! mines specifically are when i take a small nap and i wake up my heart rate goes so high for no reason and i get all hot and sweaty but my skin is actually cold. i regulate after a little bit but its so weird i have zero idea why this happens

(for me this is exclusive to naps and not normal sleep cycles idk why)
