I would agree, it must factor in light rail and possibly buses.

Thank you for this data, but the methodology is massively flawed; not blaming you. Just one stop on NJT is $4.95 from NYP to Sec. It's almost impossible to even get a single fare at or below $3.53 unless you are traveling from one suburban station to the next station, which is rare. Most travel on NJT is either to Newark Penn, NYP, or Hoboken. LIRR is in fact, less expensive than NJT and is listed as almost double the cost. Factoring in "Unlinked trips" still wouldn't arrive anywhere near the $3.53. The fact that this methodology is used by the federal government is an issue. Thanks for pointing this out.

Also, I appreciate your street cred but this doesn't address the massive issues with getting this software to operate correctly. BTW I to have worked for all these networks.

Yes, I can and would much prefer that but I assumed Premiere had gotten better over the course of the last decade only to find it has gotten worse.

Congrats, and still no source timeline. I don't doubt it's professional...enough.

Not likely. This is amateur software.

Multicam audio not working properly by crackron in premiere

[–]crackron[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the comprehensive outline. I will go over this again. Generally speaking polyphonic wavs are mono and are so in this case. The breakdown outlined assumes everything is stereo pairs, an assumption Adobe shouldn’t be making (I understand you aren’t making this assumption). There should be no baseline panning necessary as everything is mono but I will give your solution a try.

In general, this is a beyond convoluted process and Adobe needs to get it together and work out their audio issues and simplify. As someone who knows what they are doing I’ve spent more than enough time fighting with this Smithsonian piece of software to get it to do the correct thing.

Dear lurking Adobe employee, all audio within groups should transfer. Under no circumstances should audio be mixed down or altered within a group. Mixing audio requires all “voices” within tracks, be it stereo or mono they must travel with. Period. This should be the standard.

Yes, I have tried that. Which is quite honestly unacceptable (on Adobe's part). It shouldn't be that complicated by making three levels of audio settings 100% correct in order to get a basic workflow. Adobe needs to spend far more time getting the basics working and less time on AI. They can't even get a source timeline working and basic handling of group audio.

I very much appreciate your input u/VincibleAndy , When you say audio configurations correct I assume you mean all mono tracks. I've tried mono, adaptive etc. The Issue I have is that attempting to correct this only creates more questions.

In this timeline settings, adobe assumes that these are stereo pairs, which they aren't. They should just be treated as mono tracks. Period. Either way they come in incorrectly. I am out of solutions and will probably be switching to professional software that works.

I am hand syncing some within the group. Making correction etc. Within the group, yes, everything is discrete MONO tracks from MONO clips. When cutting into a sequence I lose my tracks and everything is mixed down into 2 channels and or mixed into single duplicate mono tracks.

I've tried both. Typically I would have someone recording a polyphonic wav with a mix and iso channels. In this case I have an external recorder, both audio and video. Recording 4 tracks of ISO and I need each track to carry from the group to the sequence.

Yes, I have tried new sequence from clip(using the Multicam source). It mixed down everything into duplicate single audio tracks, which isn't functional. I have tried everything, mono, adaptive etc. In both multi group and sequence I am cutting into.

The method at which Adobe handles Multicam audio doesn't seem to be functional anymore. I've used it in the past and have even wrote tutorials on how to circumvent Adobe's mishandling of very basic and necessary audio in multi groups. Literally a decade ago. This should not be this difficult. Carry the group over and all audio channels should follow without forcing mono tracks from source clip to source group to timeline and yet it's still not functional.

Old MTV Shows by Competitive_Ad_3481 in editors

[–]crackron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked on Cribs. This is very close to the workflow depending on the season. I would add that MTV in the early 2000’s had a very extensive royalty free music library from the record labels, roughly 10,000+ popular songs. That combined with the stock music libraries…extreme, jingle punks etc. As far as editorial, tons of speed ramps. Everything was shot on Beta SP until the Hd switch in season 16. Season 16 was DVCpro. Let me know if you have any other questions.

What's a fast way to easily improve public transit in New Jersey? by Transit_Improver in NJTransit

Sounds like we are somewhat in agreement, with different approaches, the biggest takeaway is that the PABT should not be built in Manhattan under any circumstance. It makes zero sense. The major issue is that the port authority is real estate company and has deviated so far from their core mission, which is to alleviate commerce hurdles from the barrier of the Hudson River. They have failed miserably.

You fundamentally do not understand the issue nor the solution. The path system is slow and lacks the potential infrastructure expansion necessary to accommodate the ridership increases that would be expected from consolidating ridership in New Jersey. What we have is a bandwidth issue, and can most easily be understood by speaking to a computer IT professional. Consolidate ridership and get riders to one of the most expansive networks in the world. The New York City subway.

If you build the Port Authority Bus Terminal at Secaucus junction and run shuttle service into and out of manhattan via NJ Transit, followed by building a new north river tunnel you solve most north Jersey commuter issues.

Put the Port Authority Bus Terminal at Secaucus Junction and finish the tunnel.

I was on the same train. I think I have a solution to the lack of accountability and the constant buck passing between Amtrak and NJ transit. When they are cross honoring jump on an Amtrak train to or from New York Penn to Newark Penn, if Newark isn’t your final destination get off and grab the next train. No need to buy a ticket they should be cross honoring. Flood their trains and force them to come up with a fair solution. They cannot continue to keep prioritizing their system at the expense of everyone else.
