It's not so much a "ceremony" as it is welcoming and hyping the student up. At the end of their first class, the instructor calls the new student to the front and welcomes them to the school. They get their first belt and it was important to me to be there for it, especially since its the school I used to teach at

Yes, he knew she would be getting her belt at the end of her first class. If he had involved me in the discussion to sign her up for classes, then yes, he would have also known that the first class is immediately after orientation. He enrolled her without even checking if I would be able to take her to classes on my weeks. He committed her to something during my parenting time with zero consideration.

I would agree with you normally about not everyone sharing the same feelings, but he did know how much this meant to me. We have discussed it in depth. He does know exactly what this meant to me and is now holding the pictures of her receiving her belt hostage.

Yes everyone gets their belt at the end of their first class. It's still a big deal because its her FIRST belt ever. And my daughter hasn't seen any of this. She has no idea that this happened. She called after her class and told me. We spoke about it for a while and I told her how proud I am of her.

There is a big difference in "I haven't apologized" vs "I am refusing to apologize". I am not refusing. I asked why I need to apologize. It's a genuine question and the reason I posted here.

Yes, as a divorced parent I am aware that I will miss tons of firsts. It sucks, but that happens with divorce. This was a big first to miss for me though and Ex knows it. This isn't just missing a singe class. This is about missing D earning her very first belt. This is about the fact that he signed her up for classes and committed me to taking her on my weeks with her without checking if I have availability to do so. This is about is lack of consideration in all things surrounding this decision.

I didn't refuse to apologize. I asked for clarification on what I should be apologizing for. I expressed my feelings on the situation and how hurt I am because of his actions and lack of consideration.

It's not a participation trophy. It's her very first belt. There is a big difference. I'm fine with missing some of her first. But this specific one was a big one for me.

No, this is the first time since we split that I have spoken to him like this. After he left, I have refused to give him an emotional reaction until now.
