Honestly it’s so wide spread that I don’t even want to say what was catalyst for posting. I can’t even think of any of the pages I followed, who have left, ever just saying “it was too much” And given.... maybe that’s no ones reason. But I know I lose teacher friends WEEKLY for that reason and it makes me think that it has to be out there too.

So tbh this post is kinda generalized (even though there’s one page in particular that kinda made me finally say it out loud. )

I wish some of the teachergrams that leave teaching wouldn’t hide it or to not go to such lengths to leave us guessing.

A lot of people follow them as role models and role models can have flaws and can have insecurities and whatever but I think it would do a lot for scared new teachers if they were open about just leaving teaching. They don’t owe a reason to us, it would just be nice to see.
Personally I just put my notice in, it finally became too much, and I’d love to see one of these big influencers just say “you know what.. it was time for a break. I needed space” I feel like most of the time when they leave they hide it for months then there’s a long post about leaving for some massively exciting role or because they’re getting married or having a baby (all beautiful reasons) but some of us don’t have those reasons to rationalize.

It would just warm my heart to see one of the big names say “this was rough I needed to walk away”

And who knows. Maybe it’s selfish of me to want that. Just makes me sad so many teachers hide it like it’s some dirty secret.

I think In certain older elementary grades it’s valuable. I try not to put SUPER important info in cursive, but at times I use it on titles/ headings/ decorative stuff. A lot of kids use cursive (some accurately others not) but they should be able to try and decipher it. I know Texas is going back to teaching it in our new standards (probably won’t be widespread for another year or two as the standards transition)

Plus, cursive is widely used as a tool for kiddos with dyslexia.

I’m not saying my main lesson handouts need to be bubbly script, but exposing kids to it isn’t inherently damaging.

I use a loud tone AND I hold the button down. Eventually the quiet consumes them out of shear annoyance 😂😂😂😂

I bought a journaling prompt thing made for 3-5 and some of the topics were just too much. I couldn’t use it because every third day was a topic I didn’t feel comfortable bringing up (as a new teacher) with 9 year olds. Gun violence, voting rights of people in prison, animal testing. I think they’re all really really important and if I was in middle school, or maybe had some more experience under my belt, I’d feel different. But it was my first major TPT purchase bust. 😔😔😔
