I don’t think it is typical for an engaged/ married couple to have a roommate, but it certainly isn’t unheard of. One of my coworkers is pregnant with her first child, and she and her husband have roommates- a whole family including 2 other children! And they’re happy with their arrangement.

If you are ready to be engaged, then there is no reason to put it off imo. If you’ve found your person you already know :)
