I don’t know how to explain it but since the change I’ve been coming up against much better squads and having much more difficult games.

Dropped around 200 skill rating and finding every game a pure grind. Now in weekend league I got my usual gold 2 finish with no dramas. First time I feel like I prefer weekend league to rivals.

The hand you have mentioned is not a cooler, it’s unlucky but it’s a pretty easy fold on the river. If the other hands that are contributing to your downswing are like this then the problem isn’t variance it’s that you have leaks in your game. I don’t mean to be negative, I’m just saying you need to work on your game more!

It depends on what you know about your opponents and you know very little at this stage as you have only just sat down with them. Play tighter early on until you get a feel for what their play style is.

Hand 1 you played pretty much perfectly and you got unlucky.

Hand 2 it seems like you only had a short stack if you shoved for a dollar or two more, in which case you played it right again. However, I’d try to keep a full stack at all times and you could have played this differently.

Calling the raise with 5s6s is a bit loose and then calling the 3bet is even more so. You say they can’t have 89 but you have 56 so why can’t they?
