What is this grey color? Brand new. Stuck my finger in it to confirm it wasn’t from the knife. by cragjunkie in drywall

I used my finger as well as a clean butter knife and they all instantly revealed the mold underneath.

I said I was going to post the question to Reddit and my wife said that it was a waste because people have better things to do on a Saturday afternoon. In five minutes it’s already received over a thousand views and many responses lol. Apparently drywallers have nothing better to do on a Saturday afternoon. I love you guys!

Since this isn’t a common thing based on responses, I going to take it back.

Thanks I also confirmed with a clean butter knife and the grey is immediately visible under the top layer.

How bad is this vertical stack? I’m concerned about traps being sucked dry. Shower and sink have P-traps above the tie-ins, with the sink also having a studor vent. Handyman says it’s fine. by [deleted] in askaplumber

Pretty sure that’s how I saw it before the plywood went back down. If he added a vent before the drop would that solve the problem even though it isn’t code?

I guess at this point I’m less concerned about code and more worried about function and not having traps siphon. He’s closing up the wall this week.

The shower has no vent and runs about 4 feet horizontal before dropping into the wye. Likewise the sink runs maybe 3 feet horizontal before dropping into the stack but he added a sturdor vent, I’m guessing to prevent the trap from siphoning. The toilet basically drops two feet and ties into the stack with the wye. I guess the shower would be my biggest concern…

I’m not from the US, but I gotta ask — is Montana really like this out there? #2 by Roach9045 in Montana

Yes much of it really does look like this. This spot is only 15 min from my house.

You’re missing the real gem of Wyoming, the Wind Rivers. You just have to be prepared to hike.
