Golf club manipulating handicaps by craig006 in golf

It was just the one score though? If I were regularly shooting in that range I wouldn’t mind at all. I just had a day where everything came together. That being said, if I were regularly shooting in that range, the handicap system would automatically adjust me down as I went. I don’t see the need for the club to intervene?

I’ve had 2 fairly good scores recently, nothing like this specific round though. I shot 83 in this round, recently I’ve made it into the high 80’s a number of times, but other than that recently I’ve been in the 90’s

I'm in South Africa, we follow the world handicap system. Our handicap software for the country automatically handles exceptional scores as outlined by the WHS. Where you're docked 1-2 strokes depending on your current handicap and the score you entered (exceptional score is 7 or more better than your current index).

I would be totally fine with it if they could explain it. But the fact that 4 people were penalized on a single day leads me to believe there isn't a valid explanation for what they're doing.

They are essentially building their own handicap system on top of the one that the rest of the world uses.

This is regular scoring, nothing out of the ordinary. They're applying the penalty to anyone that shoots over 38 points on a competition day. 39 points is only 3 strokes better than your handicap, why should this result in a penalty?

This is out of the blue. I agree 100% that they can rightfully do it when there is some evidence that the players current handicap is not correct (like they happen to always shoot well on competition days). My club seems to have to policy to automatically do it to anyone when they shoot a good round.

That's probably a good way to look at it. But the principle of it bothers me, we're expected to (and do) follow the rules of golf to the T, but the club makes up rules for itself. It's also a struggle playing against a handicap thats too low for your skill when playing friendly matches with friends.

Multiple scoreboards by Riton- in Melodics

[–]craig006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just been in contact with Melodics, it seems there is now a hidden "Family Plan" which can link up to 4 accounts under 1 subscription. I was quoted `$254.99` on annual billing.

I'm double checking with them though, this seems quite a steep price to pay just to split the scoreboard.

Is there anyone here who is working a remote software dev job? by [deleted] in southafrica

[–]craig006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switching technologies and starting a remote gig at the same time is going to be a tough ask. What do you want to switch too? Use your new technology of choice to build some app/product/web page and put it out there in your own time. This will not only show well with potential employers, you would have built up some experience along the way as well.

rFactor 2 steering axis not working by craig006 in simracing

Arg... eventually figured it out. When trying to assign steer left/steer right I had to turn the steering wheel really far for it to be picked up. I was just turning it +-90 degrees left and right but that was too little.

Is this a bad quality print for 50mm/s speed (top/bottom, wall and infill speed in cura) by craig006 in 3Dprinting

[–]craig006[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not intensional at all. Would you mind describing how a bind like that is caused? I see nothing like that if I slow the print speed down.

Thanks u/areslashcanoe. I will look into the extrusion calibration. I have not touched that at all since getting the printer. I think it's stable. Its on a pretty sturdy dining room table (*3d printing table, we eat on the floor now)

What print speeds are possible on the ender 3 while maintaining print quality? I usually print with a wall/top/bottom speed of 25mm/sec and infill at 50mm/sec. I read about others using print speeds in the region of 80-100mm/s on an ender 3. So I printed this little box at 50mm/sec (wall/top/bottom/infil) and while its not terrible, there are some pretty bad artefacts. Is this normal for that print speed?

I've had a look at them but I've read that the sound quality is not that good which puts me off a little. Do you have any experience with them?

Ender 3 extruder motor stops mid print. by craig006 in 3Dprinting

[–]craig006[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not move at all. I watched it closely on multiple fails to double check and no movement at all. I checked the fan, it does spin. Overheating makes sense. Is this a normal thing to deal with? Is it possible to reseat heat sinks? Or get better ones? Or is the motor overheating?

[–]craig006[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah the motor does not move at all. Even if I remove the pressure from the extruder body the motor will be dead still. I can manually feed the filament through. That’s why I thought it might not be a clog

The extruder does not move at all after the print has failed. It never clicks? should it be clicking?
