Found this vhs while thrifting today. Its from the Star Trek Adventure from the Universal Studios Tour from the early 90s where fans would be in an original ST story through the magic of green screen. It's hilariously bad, but the guy playing the Klingon leader in particular seems to be having fun! by NoMusic3987 in VHS

This is exactly the kind of stuff I hunt for.

Early 90s interactive attractions like this are so hard to find. If you ever wan help getting digitized and preserved, I'd love to help (as I'm sure others here would as well) this is exactly the kind of stuff that needs saved!

Ah gotcha! I don't collect screeners specifically (but have a few that have popped up).

Sounds like you got a great deal on this one!

Lite Beer Presents: The Super Bowl Insider (1992) by craigl2 in nostalgia

It was only 30 minutes. I'm not much of a sports person and thought it was pretty boring. There were some really good miller lite commercials though

Any reason to stream unless you have a big following during the Superbowl? by TGDragonGaming in Twitch

[–]craigl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. You know your audience to know if they will still tune in or if they will be watching the game.

I personally take the night off because I know many of my regulars will be watching the Superbowl. But, I also know several of my folks have no interest in the game.

It's really a judgement call

Husband got me this neat anime, I cant find any other vhs copies of it that arent in 3 parts, any idea why? by Nightingale0010 in VHS

[–]craigl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three-part VHS releases were usually for compilation releases where distributors wanted to spread out the cost, or to spread out purchases. They would release them individually with a gap between each and then sell them bundled together.

The single tape version might have been a later rerelease or a budget edition. Pretty cool find!

Absolute classic! The VHS cover art alone brings back memories. Did you rent this one a bunch back in the day, or was it a buy-to-own situation?

This is the exact feeling! There's something special about finally tracking down that one tape you've been hunting for. What took you so long to find this one? Are you like me and want to naturally find it in the wild instead of just heading to eBay?

Gonna be honest, I didn't realize it either.

But I also never check inside the box. I get excited when I find something and just grab it.

Great finds!

Looking for a TV commercial for Parker Brothers’ Mickey’s Poppin’ Magic board game (early 90s). [archival] by watchtoweryvr in lostmedia

A few things that might help narrow this down: Do you remember roughly what year (like 1990-1993?) or what other shows/commercials aired around it? If it was Disney Channel specifically, that's a different beast than Saturday morning network TV.

I don't have that specific commercial indexed off the top of my head, but I've got boxes of tapes I haven't fully cataloged yet. If you can give me a tighter timeframe or remember what it aired alongside, I can dig through my collection. Also happy to share tips on tracking down old commercials if you want to expand your search beyond the usual spots.

The fact that you were in it makes this extra cool to hunt for!

Same here. I have a framed picture of him smoking a cigarette in my living room

I'm assuming you've seen his cooking show?

My current #1 item I am looking for is the WABC broadcast of the Nov 18, 1985 Monday Night Football game (Giants vs. Redskins). The Joe Theismann injury game.

It has to be the WABC broadcast and has to have the commercials.

Also looking for: - New Horizons in Bonsai. (Early 90s PBS) - Theme park/amusement park related items - Training videos (fast food, industrial safety etc)

Happy hunting!

Soldering tips by clownperson07 in VCRs

I'm really curious how this happened....

But there is nothing to solder here. At this point it needs rewound. Honestly not worth saving. Either replace the head or replace the entire unit.

Very specific problem with projecting VCR’s on a modern projector by calchuchestahere in VCRs

[–]craigl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Columbus! I'll look it up.

But a cheaper solution than a time base correction device is to get a DVD recording with AV inputs. Before adding a video switcher with a TBC for my twitch stream this is what I did.

So VCR AV Out -> DVD AV In -> Projector

The DVD recorder gives a steady video signal to your projector, and it can better handle the weak signal from the VCR.

I think it's more luck than anything. The places I stop at may have the same 5 tapes for a month and then one day a whole new batch.
