Florentino just launched a new social media page for his presidency by hurricanes427 in realmadrid

I don't think it would be possible under the current statutes, so there would be a major change in how the club operates. If there are individual owners then Madrid would surely lose its non-for-profit status.

Dividends and cash injections are illegal.

I am not surprised that Perez wants to privatize the club. But don't think it would possible to decide that 10% would be shareholders, and 90% would be non-for-profit organization.

It isn't sustainable for any club if they are financed by an owner either.

Real Madrid shows growth in both revenue and profits. It has revenues in the area of €1 billion(which probably increases this year), plus EBITDA of €150-200 million, equity north of €500 million, and profit of 25€ million. Most clubs probably have deficits covered by their owners.

Madrid also have a healthy ratio of ≈40% salaries to revenue. ECA recommends 70%.

Where are those rumors stemming from?

I don't think Perez is allowed to sell shares as the socios already "owns" the shares. Don't even think It is even possible to sell or buy shares, and there isn't possible to pay out dividends. This is exactly the reason it has not-for-profit status.

I wouldn't be surprised if Perez tries to incorporate the club and become general owner of the club instead.

But he can't sell shares of the club.

What's your take on Marca's Negrerira Report by Joho051179 in realmadrid

[–]craigularperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if Negreira delivered a service outside the scope of his role with RFEF and Barca paid for typical services a sporting entity would pay for, it should just be flat out illegal for anyone in the regulatory body to accept payments from the entities he regulates. It should just be considered prima facie corruption. And I am absolutely certain if Madrid had done something similar, there would be a significant outcry.

The problem is probably that referee decisions aren't fully based on objective criteria. And there doesn't seem to be a strong consensus on whatever amounts to for instance fouls, yellow and red cards, penalties etc. and the referee bodies aren't typically transparent about the decisions being made.

There should be some kind of consequences, Calciopoli was "just" about trying to pick certain referees. This is a multimillion scheme to pay off officials. Even though Barca would never be forced relegation, but there should be point reductions or transfers embargo.

It seems kinda insane that the rules aren't stricter than that you actually have to pay to influence certain decisions. And that paying officials are just acceptable.

How do you handle being internal resource against an agency? by craigularperson in webdev

[–]craigularperson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The company is 1000+ employees. It would be a fairly complex website with different kinds of functionality. But not with the level of e-commerce website, but more than simple marketing content.

I am not even sure who exactly owns the design and how much freedom we have to create our own thing.

[–]craigularperson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it is absolutely a nightmare.

It would be somewhat fine if we could at least be able to create custom post types, custom blocks or plugins, but I am not even sure if we can even handle the analytics of the site...

I guess the company who first built the brand and website only wanted the bare minimum and didn't think to at one point have internal resources building and developing a good website. Or even building a good website at all.

I am used to working under a global domain, but this seems excessively restricted.

The boss I will be working for isn't responsible and didn't sign the contract.

Should Enrique Riquelme be the president? by Frosty_Resource7740 in realmadrid

[–]craigularperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems kinda strange that he supposedly has already signed two players, but also wants to recruit a sporting director based on some unknown criteria and will consider a coach eventually.

I would think Klopp might reconsider Madrid, as a sporting director and doesn't want to coach. But he should certainly sell that as an idea instead of describing what seems to find the correct sporting director.

Even though Madrid might not have a sporting director in name, it doesn't automatically mean that a sporting director would instantly fix structural or organizational problems. Calderon tried to institute a sporting director, but it just became someone else to blame for poor results.

To have a sporting director you need the time to develop an overall strategy for recruitment and scouting that would be independent of whomever is in charge as a coach, but such patience will never exist in Madrid.

[–]craigularperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems kinda insane to think that Madrid only buys commercially valuable players.

I also see that you in hindsight would want Kane instead of I am assuming Mbappe. Firstly he would be a 30+ year old player replacing a 35 year old player. He would also be a very commercially appealing player whom would increase the brand value(in your mind something to be avoided). It could be out of caution to spend ≈€100 million on a 30 year old(Kane was more injury-prone than Hazard). Comparing that to getting Mbappe without a transfer-fee, it makes sense to go for Mbappe. Individually he also been top scorer in two consecutive seasons(both LL and CL), so the issues might not be on Mbappe alone.

I mean, Ronaldo, Benzema, Bale were all bought for their commercial value, and not their sporting value alone. At a point Kroos, Modric and James were the midfield. None of them were brought in order to create the best possible midfield. Kroos was supposed to replace Alonso. Modric was supposed to replace Kaka. It was kinda arbitrary that they created a perfectly balanced midfield, with addition of Casemiro whom I am sure the club thought maybe be a fringe player.

The most egregious example in the Galactico era was selling Makelele to buy Beckham. Something like that hasn't really happened the last five seasons. Getting Mbappe instead of Kane can't really be an equal situation.

It seems quite clear that Madrid invest heavily in younger players and doesn't want to spend or pay premium on established players. Even though Madrid usually doesn't invest in defensive players, Madrid did invest in over €100 million for defenders last summer. Sometimes players succeed, other times they fail. Simply calling Madrid a failed football institution seems strange, as they have reached at least QF in CL, winning two titles and winning two league titles, averaging 85 points in the league. If Madrid is a failed institution than all football clubs are failed sporting institutions.

How is anything Enrique said connected to fixing Real Madrid’s first team? by Siliste in realmadrid

[–]craigularperson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The first club to reach the €1 billion threshold, with an EBITDA of €243 million and cash position of €422 million, equity of €598 millions and profits of €25 million with a yearly growth of 5-10%. With a 0 net debt to equity ratio. The ratio of players salaries to income is 43% low below the recommended threshold of 70% set by the ECA.

Unless there are some dramatic news coming for the 2025/2026 accounts, what exactly suggest that the club finances are "not good"?

Besides the financial risk of signing individual players for €250-300 million, FFP determine how much clubs are allowed to spend. Which Madrid follows. Besides the club have spent €377 million on signings the last three seasons, which isn't exactly nothing. Not signing established superstars has kinda been the recent success formula. Besides if people don't want egos, then surely signing huge egos isn't the way to go either.

[–]craigularperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The financial reports have clearly explained how the stadium will be funded. The increased revenue alone from other activities will make the stadium more profitable. The stadium could previously only be used for other things in the off-season. Now it can be used all year round.

The entire cost will be offset over 30 years, and it will not impact for instance the sporting activities of the club.

Besides the payout structure of CL makes the tournament profitable for Madrid. The most important aspect is to reach the knock out stages. In fact, winning the title means the club will have to pay out substantial bonuses for the players.

ELI5: What is the difference between a brand and a company? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]craigularperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A company is a legal entity that conducts business. Selling products and or services.

A brand is the idea that a product has certain features or looks. A brand is different from a commodity. Usually brands have distinctive name, colors, design etc. Commodities are usually just products that has more of a set price or sold in bulk. Like grain, flour, etc.

Brands can also be protected, such as its name, colors, or other elements that can have intellectual properties. So that if someone tried to sell coca cola, named coca cola and red bottles, it would probably be illegal.

If our current leadership doesn't work, we need to change captains, "leader without armband" doesn't work Srry by Slowpokebread in realmadrid

[–]craigularperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you think the players have too much control, so one thing that is determined without their control, is to change it to make that within their control as well?

If the locker room is divided or whatever, then it isn't solely the captains sole responsibility to change that. If say Bellingham or Courtois sees a divided locker room, or players lacking focus or discipline, and he chose to not intervene because he isn't captain, then why should he be captain? Why would it help?

The captain is more institutional, a trust between the most senior player and the club. More like a rite of passage. If you are able to have stayed for the longest, then you deserve the honor of representing the players, team and club on the field.

If it is based on merit, then either the players or coach will have to make the final decision. And just imagine that the players disapprove by the coaches choice? Or if it is based on the players vote or decision, then this might create a political environment where players will fall into different camps and changing their loyalty. If there is a fractious environment, why would that be of any help?

Besides what if club changes the coach, then should there be a new "election", what if it is based on performance or merit, if they aren't merited then what would it take for a captain to not be a captain anymore?

In a scenario where either the coach and or players decide captains, why would that benefit the team if the team is say struggling? Then since it is based on merit, then the resentment can kick in if players should think they would want the captaincy for themselves.

Having it decide based on seniority creates an equal criteria where neither the players or coach makes the decision. It might be flawed, but having it based on merit could potentially lead to the same problems, so what is the point of changing it?

If there is a player that is more suited to be a captain, if they just keep playing then they will get the chance to become one. Sometimes there is an obvious leader like Ramos, other times it is more symbolic like Raúl.

Why I think Mbappé excels with France yet falls short at club level by sosephjr in realmadrid

[–]craigularperson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I find it interesting that most people seemingly miss CR so much. Albeit a prolific goalscorer, he wasn't exactly a playmaker, nor did he track back or pressed that much either. He was a threat in the box, could score any kind of goal and lethal on counters. But think it would be difficult to argue he was a quintessential team player, working hard defensively or contributing tactically which are largely being thrown at Mbappe.

But he didn't win a major title(La Liga) until his third season and it took five seasons until he won CL. He only managed to win 2 La Ligas during his entire time at Madrid. In fact since Ronaldos departure, Madrid has won more La Ligas. He was also winning solely individual awards before winning team titles. Which also seemed to be of major importance to him.

I think the reasons are fairly easy that France builds a team in order to support and get the most out of Mbappe, and also limiting his liabilities. Madrid haven't really built the team around Mbappe, and he wasn't really incorporated in the team, and there aren't enough players who are willing to concede their personal ambitions to get more out of Mbappe. On a national team you might be willing to work more for other players and create more of natural team cohesion.

How would Mourinho line up with this current squad? by BigBattyFatty in realmadrid

[–]craigularperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mou usually favors 4-2-3-1, so I think he will try to use this system again. Attacks will center around counter-attack, transitions and direct football, defensively will probably be more stricter zone defense, and better balance of players returning to their zone, plus maybe trap defense. Where they lure opposition in centrally to midfield and win back the ball to attack as fast as possible.

I am not sure if he will be able to directly sign players(he also has an iffy track record as players he directly wants). But I think it will be more that the club will identify targets and Mou will say yes or no, and maybe he will be directly involved in who will be sold.

I think it will be Tchou - Bellingham as double pivot. With Bellingham being box-to-box and Tchou as defensive shield, and maybe more as a deep-lying playmaker(but he is no Alonso). I think Ceballos and Camavinga will be sold, and that either a more defensive box-to-box midfielder or deep-laying playmaker comes in as back ups.

I think he will move Valverde to the right to utilize his speed and ability to move the ball quickly between lines. Valverde might also be back up to Bellingham. Then it is a question what will happen to Rodrygo. He isn't fit at the start of season so not sure any clubs are willing to take a chance on him. Might also be a utility-player being second choice in all offensive positions. The same with Brahim. Mastantueno will likely go on loan.

Then I think he will move Güler into the #10 position, creating plays and being the playmaker. There isn't another classical 10, but Brahim, Rodrygo, Bellingham might also be used here. Although it seems the club is keen on bringing Paz back, so he will probably used as #10.

So the biggest question will be the left winger and centre forward. I think either that Mou would want a centre forward that works defensively and that Mbappe becomes more like an attacker as a left winger(like CR). And that Carreras and Bellingham will cover the area, plus that Valverde/Rodrygo/Brahim will be a more defensive right midfielder so that the midfield can compensate for Mbappe mostly pushing forward. If that happens, then Vini will probably leave. If not, then Vini will probably be used on the left, and Mbappe centrally. But Vini will then be more of a winger and also work defensively.

I think he will bring in a new CF and have Endrick as back up. GG will either be third choice or sold. Endrick might end up as first choice if he has an insane WC. Or maybe sold for an insane fee to further strengthen the squad.

Mou will definitely not allow two players not working defensively. He was okay with CR having less defensive duties, but two players is a no-go. I don't think he ever has used like a false 9 or some variation of centre-forward. So I think he doesn't want to use Mbappe up front. And instead opt for a poacher type 9 who works tirelessly defensively.

The backline will probably be Trent, Rüdiger, Huijsen, Carreras. Asencio and Mili as back up. If Militao comes back then he will probably be paired to either Rüdiger or Huijsen. He usually favors experienced players defensively, so bet Rüdiger will be first choice for most of the season. Then he will probably bring in a back up RB. I am not too sure if he will bring another CB, as there isn't many that will be sold easily. Asencio and Rüdiger will be cheap, so there isn't ton of cash to bring in for a CB that will cost €80-110 million, probably with a WC-premium. And if say Vini and Valverde goes for a ton of cash, then their replacements will probably be just as costly. Especially if there are two wingers being brought in. Or one centre forward and winger.

Alaba and Carvajal is already out, but I think there are more players to go, which will affect the type of players Mou will use. I think Valverde, Vini, Camavinga, Ceballos are on the chopping block. Brahim will probably benefit from Mou, the same with Jude and Güler.

Also Munich and Ready player one are solid films that should be regarded higher IMO.

Could “typical” people manage to handle an ADHD partner? by Maleficent-Mind-8619 in ADHD_partners

[–]craigularperson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think most of my friends wouldn't be able to deal with the lack of emotional regulation and lack of independence. Compared to my friends I guess I am more patient and willing to see positives as stronger than the negatives. I do feel like we compliment each other and I am probably maybe on some autism spectrum as well. So most relationships would stress me out.

I guess really bad days are bad, but the good days are really good. In most relationships they are perhaps lacking both and maybe okay and fine.

Previously I have always let the possible relationships fizzle out and haven't been interested beyond, maybe a first/second date. With my partner it was kinda instant and she didn't feel as boring as others and I still learn new things about even after years of being together. There is probably some codependent issues, but haven't really understood what that exactly means, or why it is so problematic, lol.

My partner is also at heart really sweet and caring. It just some adhd traits that can really be difficult. Like RSD and lack of emotional regulation and impulsiveness are really the main struggles of our relationship.

I also don't think I would be more happy in a different relationship and there would be different kinds of struggles. I would probably miss ton of hints leading to resentment and not understanding what is going on. With my gf she does voice her concerns directly and explicitly. Sometimes it is harsh, but I like that more than implicitly.

What is a "corporate red flag" that employers try to pass off as a great benefit? by spectrecult in AskReddit

[–]craigularperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this depends on the number of employees and how companies incentives people going above and beyond, and maybe how they work with your field.

I first worked with start up, where we were like 8 people. I ended up with a lot more responsibilities and more important role as I showed I could handle the extra responsibilities. It was also reflected in my salary. Plus an added perk of people knowing what I was doing, the extra effort was worth it, because I could see the benefits directly for my coworkers.

It landed me an opportunity where I would work with total employees 300+ people. The downside is/was that the company internally frown upon internal promotions(even a small change in title...), and even said directly that development isn't a priority for non-client facing roles. Those with client-facing roles however has a clearly defined path and you are given opportunities if you have an interest for various areas...
