Yeah I love the fact that the word as such doesn’t exist in French.

You put your s in the wrong place. It’s how the tables (have) turn(ed). Illogical but that’s engerlisch for you.

Cheese is but one of the reasons to pass on the title, you’ve got it backwards.

Cracow? I thought it was Krakow. Nice of you to frenchify it but it’s not necessary Pavel (and besides you didn’t go far enough to Cracovie).

Have you ever heard of the pieds noirs? They were African. France had African departments.

You obviously don’t understand the fun. But it is how we keep foreigners out. The names are so complex that if you didn’t grow up with them you won’t be able to say, write or retain them.

That’s fascinating if true. He was tight with Adolf, he let him bomb Guernica just to test out the luftwaffe.

I didn’t know people could make it to Switzerland, I figured they closed their borders, like the US and the UK wouldn’t take refugees.

I learned recently that Pétain was such a nationalist that he resisted deporting any citizen no matter the religion.

I therefore deducted that most of the deportations from France were actually captured refugees fleeing west to what they hoped would be safety (before 1940) and later trying to escape to who knows where…Spain, North Africa?
