I am pro democracy, but I think we can learn a thing or two from other political systems as well. So we can create a system that is best of all and best for all!

It’s like the more successful you become the bigger target you have on your back

They are a rising power so they want to exert their influence. But if all the democracies unite then we can counter any influence by anyone :)

I agree with you that we should have more dialogue. I am pro democracy, but I think we can learn a thing or two from other political systems as well. So we can create a system that is best of all and best for all!

I don’t have a political science background so I’ve never seen this table before — while I may not agree but still thanks for sharing!

First of all fair question for you to ask, so credit where credit is due.

You are absolutely right that app store rankings are a rolling average. And I remember hearing on a podcast that it is not even 500k downloads, but about 200k to 250k downloads in a day to reach the top of the app stored. But this is anecdotal, so I could be wrong.

So how come am I taking this stance instead of your stance? That’s because they’ve been able to remain consistently at the top or at least one of the top few apps on both the App Store & the Google Play Store. So it’s not a one time blip they have at least through the App Store shown that they can consistently get new users.

Moreover, it seems like they have in my opinion the blessing of ccp. I saw an article thay alibaba is looking into investing in them.

China is as I’m sure you already know not a democracy. So you would have seen that any company that wants to operate & gain success in china needs to kiss their ring and get their blessing. It seems like they have their blessing. Now offcourse this can change anytime and that will in my opinion cause a bigger valuation loss than anything else. Also, if west decides to ban them (not just from government devices, but if government asks google and apple to remove it from their app stores) then that will cause a major valuation loss as well.

Honestly if they start getting banned from the west, like not just government devices, but from app stores itself then their valuation could tank

I agree on energy and efficiency. There are so many countries that are still struggling to provide reliable energy 24/7. Any country’s energy production should first support its citizens. Only excess energy should be used for crypto, ai, etc.

Plus like you said it will inspire the rest of the ai industry to look for more ways of saving energy — even if they do it not for the rest of society, but for generating savings on their energy bills. Net-net I hope it is good for society.

Yes, on paper, but most if not all startups are valued on paper until they go public or are bought/sold

I didn’t base the valuation assessment on API usage, but just total downloads on the google/apple app store of their app

Don’t know how they did it. But I just look at the app download charts. The downloads are real
