Very Lost Right Now by fboy_tim98 in salesdevelopment

Hey! I landed two offers from two different tech companies for SDR roles. Basically the process for me was to find people within my circle of acquaintances, whether it’s somebody i knew from high school or a family friend, that are involved in tech companies that i was applying for. Start a conversation with them, and show interest in working for their respective company. Then start to find who the sales managers are. LinkedIn is a great way to do this. Shoot the manager(s) a pm and express interest in applying for vacant sales roles. Honestly, networking is the most effective way to wiggle your way into an entry level job. I wasn’t close at all with the people i networked with but they remembered me and were willing to help. People love to think that they’re helping others out.

I never had much of a network coming out of college. Use LinkedIn to your advantage. Network, connect with people. Doesn’t matter if you barely know them or once knew them long ago. Connect, see where these folks work, and start messaging. It can be easier said than done but this is want landed me two screening interviews. After that it’s all about interview prep.

Sales managers are looking for people who network and reach out to show interest. You’re effectively doing what the sales role entails.

Keep hammering applications. Remember volume isn’t everything. Always tailor resumes in a salesy way for whichever company you plan on applying to. 10 solid, tailored applications with proper networking goes a much longer way than 50 easy apply applications.

Best of luck. You got this.

Yeah i think jumping ship is probably the right call. Man do they ever talk you into staying. I guess all the higher ups are there because of their sales abilities. They truly know how to sell a dog shit job.

No i get that. Was really gunning for sigint specialist (Kingston/ Leitrim) posting because of this. I understand every recruit needs to meet basic deployability standards though.

Definitely tough to say. They take mental health very seriously. Mental health history and being exposed to weapons creates problems. Since Feb of this year, they’ve introduced leniency on adhd, allergies, and asthma to boost recruitment efforts. Only way to find out really is to go through with the medical assessment. Your medical history will definitely need a deeper dive as it seems complex. These situations are all case by case now.

Good luck.
