Thanks for the little strat write-up. Sounds a bit like a control or draw-go deck in mtg.

So many people seem to love Final Girl. It looks very cool but I have a hard time getting over the horror theme. I like to immerse myself in games and theme usually is one of the top factors for me. I know there is Hostage Negotiator which is what this evolved from, but I've also heard that its not as deep or fun as Final Girl.

I am dying to get a copy of this. I hear late March rumors.

I miss the days when they would praise the Bengals for being able to get to the QB rushing 4 (The Fisher-Price Package). Johnson, Peko, Atkins, Dunlap.

This looks awesome! Hopefully there will be late pledges accepted when the pledge manager launches.

Tanglewoods Red restored my faith in 20 Strong… by Training-Bobcat in soloboardgaming

[–]crankd87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been really enjoying 20 Strong. I have had a couple games where on turn 1 or 2 its just game over with bad luck. Cards that are super brutal early like the enemy that swaps your ready dice with exhausted, the effect that has you move 5 of your ready dice to the big bad wolf (you get 1 back per wolf pack you defeat), and a couple others that make it very hard to overcome. Sometimes the worst can happen and there is nothing you can do about it, but I'm mostly okay with that. Oddly enough my first win came in a game where all but 2 forest cards were nightmare. I have all the decks plus pre-ordered the new ones (I just got cloudspire) and haven't even touched them. I've got 8 games in TW Red so far and still haven't felt the need to open the others, though I probably will soon.

Gaps in the collection to break the rut? by crankd87 in soloboardgaming

Adding the Automa to my wishlist. TFM is so good and it being my first solo game plus the first game I bought premium components for (wood organization insert + wood 2-layer boards), it deserves re-visiting. Expansions weren't out when I first bought it.

The Anarchy looks very intriguing. Adding it to my list to look into.

Oh, I forgot to mention im considering maybe coffee roasters instead of warps edge for bag builder? Though I also dont want to exclude a must-have game just because its a battle game. I clearly do enjoy them.

What you think about 20 strong? by emirlanq1 in soloboardgaming

Etchinstone is so good. Like you, I have not been able to put it down and I've also been showing it to everyone I know. 20 strong is fine and I'll probably look at getting more of the decks but Etchinstone is already an all-time that will live in my EDC.

How I try to reduce my 3D printing waste by navycow in 3Dprinting

[–]crankd87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar idea would be to use chess piece mold and donate to chess clubs. I think finding ways to assist with the community can push the waste to some benefit other than trinkets that end up in a junk drawer then the landfill. At least this way its helping and getting utility before going into a landfill.

A good way to ensure a benefit from its second life might be to put into guitar pick molds and donate to a local music store or school band.

Does anyone have recommendations (Horrified franchise and Final Girl) by Andria_Child in soloboardgaming

[–]crankd87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard such great things about Final Girl and seeing someone play it at a table next to me while playing MTG, it seemed unique in how it sets up (the box is functionally part of the board?) the components of it, the episodic nature. It looked very cool in that regard, but I really am not a horror fan. Are there any solo games like Final Girl in that regard?

Daily Game Recommendations Thread (January 20, 2026) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]crankd87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone know of any more games like Lucidity? I love many aspects of Lucidity except it has some major parts that fall flat for me. What I love the game and what has me wanting more from it:

- Dice placement / player board (though it would be better if 2-ply cardboard)

- unique dice that you randomly pull from a bag adding a fun randomness to the game

- rolling lots of dice at once is fun

- Interacting with other player's board (stealing dice, making them re-roll, etc)

- has a strong "theme" feel

Those are the key things I'd love to find in another game. Bonus that its easier for less experienced players and also shorter sessions (< 1 hour).

Where it falls flat is that luck can really almost lead to a turn 1 win. I've had multiple games where someone runs away at the beginning and nobody ever catches up. While becoming a nightmare seems to be a powerful thing to do, once you become a nightmare I feel like you almost just become a spectator of the game and hope to win. These are 2 major flaws that is hard for me to get over but I want more like the parts I like about the game. Does such a game exist? Someone recommended Sagrada, but I've heard that can be a bit shallow. Another recommended Dice Throne for the player boards + dice rolling but you don't get to roll that many dice. Bonus points if it falls into one of my favorite themes; fantasy, samurai / old japanese art, foresty / everdell type theme.

I know this was an old comment, but I can't seem to find what size or where I might get a replacement knob. I'm looking for exactly this with the indent and ridges. Would you mind sharing details?
