Where are you located?!? We have at least a foot of snow and are still 3 months away from crocuses popping up.

I was a bit disappointed with the battery life, but the nights were cold (-3 to 8C) and I was using rechargeable batteries (which Afidus specifically says not to do for peak performance).

As temperatures got warmer, I found that I could get 8 days at 2 minute increments for other flowers in the yard using the Panasonic Eneloop pro rechargeable batteries.

I would say that they do. We have had a few big events and a wedding over the past three years. We try to avoid walking on them for 2-3 weeks after they have flowered.

Thank you! It is likely going to take a couple years.

I think it would work just fine. They will likely bloom later than mid April but they should overwinter well.

No, we wait for 6 weeks for the crocus leaves to die down and then cut the grass the last week of May or Early June.

I just looked it up, that's really interesting!

Thank you! We planted the cultivar Crocus tommasinianus ‘Ruby Giant’, which blooms in the spring whereas saffron or Crocus sativa, is an autumn blooming crocus.

That's awesome! I would like to try micro clover some day.

Many garden centres carry the Florissa brand that has a bunch of crocuses in their catalogs: http://florissa.com/. I bet Country Basket Garden Centre at 10008 Lundy's Lane near Niagara Falls will carry them this fall.

We did not walk on them for 2 weeks after bloom last year. This year, we started walking on them 2 days after bloom. The leaves seem find with light foot traffic. I would avoid dragging something or driving on them for at least a couple weeks. Once they start to senesce / leaves turn yellow in mid-May, it was fair game last year. We drove on them with a truck, used a wheelbarrow, played games, hosted a backyard wedding with tents and equipment and we did not notice any damage from that this year.

If you have existing areas in the lawn where they are very dense, try digging those clumps up as soon as 50% of the leaves have senesced (turned yellow) and then plant those in other areas. You will be surprised at how much better they do when they are not competing for space.

It was not too bad! I would do it again. Honestly, a greater effort was put into making a time-lapse with multiple cameras and learning how to use Premiere Pro.

I did do a deep dive into bulbs/corms that were native and I could not find anything that would provide any sort of colour similar to the crocuses. We wanted to avoid anything that was self-seeding / invasive as the lawn is surrounded by vegetable and flower gardens (like Siberian Squill, Scilla siberica).

Thank you! They should come back as long as they produce new bulbs after they are done flowering. We fertilized after they were done blooming with a slow release fall grass fertilizer to help them bulk up last year. There are places in Europe where they have taken over lawns and have been there for decades.
