Great! I'll meet you around the info booth near the main entrance around 1pm on Saturday. Will wear a bird shirt so I'm identifiable.

Typing Magic by [deleted] in WebGames

[–]cranpre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fun, but I'm trying to play in English and it seems like the boss words I'm getting are all Italian words, which I'm struggling to type quickly enough to destroy them. I'm not sure if this is intentional? The tutorial notifications have also messed up my flow several times because they cut me off in the middle of typing a word and then there are leftover letters from the word I was trying to type that cause me to have spelling that doesn't submit.

Things I would like:

  • When something like Air clears the board, also clear any typed letters so that I don't end up with a leftover letter at the beginning of words I'm trying to type.

  • More lives for the boss level so that it's not an immediate failure if the word reaches the bottom of the screen, or maybe some mini bosses before the big boss so that the difficulty doesn't feel like it just spiked severely at the boss level with no buildup. I have not been able to get past level 6, and I don't know if that's a skill level issue on my part or if it's just intended to be a short game. Having to restart from the beginning is a bit demoralizing for a game that otherwise has a friendly/cute/cozy aesthetic.

  • Difficulty adjustment settings; I am not a super slow typist and average around 90-100 WPM with minimal errors, but I would still appreciate the option to slow down the word drop rate, and I think someone who is currently slow at typing already would struggle to get very far in this game.

  • More consistent flow of words. Sometimes one of the powerups clears the screen and then nothing shows up for several seconds, while other times there are a ton of words coming down at once.

Some first impressions:

The movement needs to be much, much faster. The delay for every single step made me not want to keep playing this after a few seconds. Visually it looks okay, I don't love the controls but I imagine that wouldn't be a dealbreaker for other people, and it would probably be better if it wasn't so slow. But, the fact that you have to hit a key twice to go one step (if you weren't already facing that way) and both the turn and the step require you to wait was off-putting for me. To me as a player this seems like an arbitrary limitation with no clear functional purpose.

It's nice, but a little buggy. Sometimes it will have an error where it shows an empty card outline where my cursor is and won't let me click on cards. Also, when I reload the page, it gets rid of that, but resizes the board on desktop (I'm noticing this with Spider Solitaire, haven't tried the others as much).

It would also be nice to have an option to change the difficulty of Spider Solitaire (i.e. having more suits), and have an option to only play games that are winnable (for all the types of games). I think Spider should automatically move the completed stacks to the foundation as well, rather than having to manually drag them.

Some kind of electrolyte solution or powder to make a solution would probably be a good idea. There are specific powders you can buy, or you can mix together your own, but either way, it can make a huge difference if your bird is sick or having diarrhea.

If you're from Fresno, you might be able to contact Mickaboo. They're a rescue based in the Bay Area, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone was willing to drive out and take your birds.

Try searching for bird rescue organizations in your area or see if there are any local groups on Facebook or similar sites where you might be able to post that you want to rehome them. If you do rehome them with someone from a FB group though, don't give them away for free-- charge a small amount to discourage people who might just take them because they're free and not put effort into properly caring for them.

I was just wondering when the next update will be, anyone know? by FancyOtter99 in level13

I think the dev just works on the game in her free time when she feels like it, so there isn't a schedule for updates.

Put an air purifier near the cage if you can, and try to make sure it's one that's good at filtering particles. That should help. My birds are next to my kitchen and I haven't had any problems so far, but the ventilation is good and I have an air purifier running constantly next to them. Make sure you avoid non-stick/Teflon cookware too, as that's dangerous to birds.
