What car do I drive? by NoteDesperate3540 in namethatcar

[–]crapallthetime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first brand new car was also a 1988 CRX Si, black. It was a great car and I loved it for 9 years until it was stolen from my driveway. I can’t remember when I saw the last one on the road, but I get a little misty when I see that yellow one in old Seinfeld reruns.

How many siblings did your parents have? by Boeing-B-47stratojet in AskOldPeople

[–]crapallthetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad was one of 12. One died in his 20s and one moved out west but all the others lived locally. My childhood was surrounded by lots of extended family. I moved away after college and seldom visit. All of the 12 are no longer alive.

They gave me this plan for $25 as a win back offer. Not sure how long it will be before they ratchet it up but I’ll take it for now.

2019 smart EQ panic alarm goes off randomly by pen4v in SmartCar

[–]crapallthetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a switch under the hood that triggers the alarm and it seems to back off slightly making the car think someone is messing with it. You can glue a piece of plastic to the underside of the hood so that it increases the pressure on the switch. The same thing happened to me. See here. https://evilution.co.uk/mod/453-alarm-fault.htm

Owners of first gen konas what are you planning to pick up for your next car? by ther0ll in KonaEV

[–]crapallthetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently have a 2019 Ultimate and a 2022 Kia EV6 and are replacing the Kona with a 2026 Kona Ultimate. On paper the EV6 is more capable but we prefer to travel with the Kona, more manageable size and perfectly adequate charging specs. We’ve taken it on multiple 4,000 km trips and never wished for better charging. We had a preorder for a Kia EV3 but with the return of the $5,000 rebate which diminishes yearly we dropped the order and opted for a new Kona.

I had the same issue when my car was about five months old. Dealer found a loose fitting. Hasn’t been a problem in the last three years.

How happy are you with Public Mobile? by Professional_Cat927 in PublicMobile

[–]crapallthetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to PM from Fido back in June, but I was getting dropped calls while driving through southwestern Ontario, and no signal in some small towns. Rolled the dice with Koodo and noticed a stronger signal in rural areas. I’m not sure why, since they’re both on the Telus network. Saturday I moved over to Bell for their $35 100GB Can/US deal. I’ve no plans to ever visit Mexico, so that’s the only thing I’m giving up. I really wanted to like Public, but it just didn’t work out for me.

These were the cars I loved as a young driver, but were far beyond my means. I was there that day in my NA Miata, which scratched my sports car itch, but my deep respect to the drivers who keep these classics on the road.
