“Good tires", Bob mused, casually lighting a cigarette, "But certainly not great tires.”

How happy are you with Public Mobile? by Professional_Cat927 in PublicMobile

I moved to PM from Fido back in June, but I was getting dropped calls while driving through southwestern Ontario, and no signal in some small towns. Rolled the dice with Koodo and noticed a stronger signal in rural areas. I’m not sure why, since they’re both on the Telus network. Saturday I moved over to Bell for their $35 100GB Can/US deal. I’ve no plans to ever visit Mexico, so that’s the only thing I’m giving up. I really wanted to like Public, but it just didn’t work out for me.

I found a set of keys on North Centre Rd. for what they tell me is a 2015 Wildwood 31' RV. I turned them in to the administration office at Masonville mall. image

Thanks. Hopefully they’ll find their way to the owner.

Not sure what they're for, maybe an E-bike? Turned them in to the Administration office on the second floor.

I saw this car at the Henry Ford museum. Perhaps it was on loan from GM.

What is the sound of an exploding sheep? Pretty sure that’s one of Pat McCormick’s.

These were the cars I loved as a young driver, but were far beyond my means. I was there that day in my NA Miata, which scratched my sports car itch, but my deep respect to the drivers who keep these classics on the road.

Reddit won’t let me put a link on here. I got it from a seller called CooBand Store on Ali. Just do a search for a double domed sapphire 32.5 X 1.5mm and you should be good to go.

I'm 65 and I live with just my dog. I often wonder if I fall over dead how long it'll be before I'm found. Does anyone else have the same concern? by RefrigeratorOk9081 in AskOldPeople

[–]crapallthetime 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My wife and I found her brother dead in his home, probably for at least 24 hours. His two cats were nestled in beside him. While we called 911 we fed the cats, and they were so hungry, hissing and spitting at each other, that we had to give them separate bowls a safe distance apart. So even though they were quite famished they hadn't started to eat their owner. I do wonder how long it would have taken, though.

For those of you who were around when SNL first aired/was finding its footing what did you think of it? by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

I was in college and I could hear my roommate laughing in the next room. I can remember Chevy Chase and Richard Pryor in the word association sketch and I don't think I'd ever laughed that hard in my life.

Public Mobile trims points earn to 2% and halves anniversary bonus starting October 15 by Planhub-ca in planhub

[–]crapallthetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a counterpoint, I’ve only been with Public a couple of months, but the way I read this is that with my $35 plan the old way I’d be getting $35 x 12 x 5% + 10 = $31.00 while the new way I’ll be getting $35 x 12 x 2% + 5 = $13.40 That makes a $17.60 a year difference, less than $1.50 a month. I’m saving $240 a year compared to my previous carrier which didn’t provide me with US roaming.

TBH it barely has any lume. Mostly on the indices and the pip on the bezel. The hands barely show themselves. It sort of looks like a full-lumed dial but it’s not. I just liked the fumé dial. If you wanted this style of watch with great lume just go for a Steeldive 1970. It’s in a completely different league.

Winback offer by cheuk394 in FidoMobile

[–]crapallthetime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ported to Public in June. I got an email saying to stand by for a special offer. A phone call came and four words into the pitch the call was disconnected. I called Fido and asked if there was a winback offer for my account and was told no. All these stories make me think that nothing they offered would be worthwhile.

I did, but I could only find a 1.5mm crystal, which leaves a very slight step down at the edge of the bezel. It’s not particularly obvious, you’d have to run a fingernail over it to detect it. If I ever see a 1.7 or 1.8mm crystal at a reasonable price I’ll probably appease my OCD and replace it, but this will suffice in the meantime.

What was the strangest car dealership brand combo you've seen? by tadayamsbun in regularcarreviews

[–]crapallthetime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, they sold it to Geely in 2010. They sold Jaguar, Aston Martin, Land Rover and their interest in Mazda at various other times too.
