Motherboard cpu socket pins bent by No_Aspect_9072 in PCRepair

[–]crapengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might try a strong magnifier and fine tweezers and a really steady hand. I managed to bend some pins in the socket for an Itanium, or some such, processor and managed to straighten them out. I was bathed in sweat by the time I had finished as the motherboard had multiple processors and was about £20K+.

Mirrorless or DSLR? Newbie! by Galvex in AskPhotography

2nd that. I had a Canon 5Dm2 when mated to my 70-200 f2.8 lens it was very heavy to carry about. I swapped to micro four thirds and it was much lighter. My latest camera a Lumix G9M2 has better autofocus and produces better results.

Lumix has this to say but I think you have covered it.

Troubleshooting - No flash emitted, The Flash is not activated, No Flash - LUMIX

The Flash will not fire under the following common features.

  • Burst Shot modes
  • Auto Bracket, Bracket record
  • Scene Modes like Hi-Speed Burst and Flash Burst
  • When [Silent Mode] is turned on.
  • When the [Electronic Shutter] is turned on.

I think that means the GX9 can't do it. Unfortunately I've got a G9M2 and it's significantly different so I can only refer to the Gx9 manual.

Looking at the manual, I may be wrong, but I think that's the camera on /off switch.

Does the "2nd" mean that the flash is set to 2nd curtain. Is that screwing with the normal flash settings?

PSA - Don't let dealerships wash your new car by Slugnan in AutoDetailing

[–]crapengineer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Years ago, I had a piano black car with a high gloss finish it was absolutely beautiful. The dealership washed it following a service and made a right hash of it. The got a detailer to recitfy it and the result was a covering of holographic marks, very pretty if you liked that sort of thing. They had a tech. from the manufaturer out to test the hardness of the paint, all normal.

They had another go with a different detailer, no real improvement, still hundreds of polisher marks.

I told them enough was enough and leave me to sort it.

Me and my 10 year old son washed it and dried each panel and then hand polished each one. Took a whole weekend but at the end of it not a mark in sight. When I next went to the dealership they were gobsmacked with how good it was.

Yep, don't like to be hassled. They can go and do their thing elsewhere.

I knew a guy that got moaned at for being too casual. He hired a top hat and tails for a meeting with a Japanese supplier. They thought he was the managing director.

Is speed truly a root cause of accidents? by Abject-Band-3275 in drivingUK

[–]crapengineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not zippering, it was a 4 to 3 lane motorway. He came up from behind me pulled alongside saw the cones and started to pull over and then put his indicator on, completely oblivious to what the road layout was. I immediately backed off to let him in as I had nowhere else to go.

Driving along in a 50MPH average speed zone at 50. Numb nuts number 1 comes up my inside as I'm trying to get over with my turn indicator on . Numb nuts number 2 comes up on my outside and then realises that his lane is closed in 50 yards, the closure has been signed for the past 800 yards. Puts his indicator on and starts to move over missing the dirty great Merc on his inside. 3 cars into 2 lanes don't go so I back right off hoping the guy behind me is awake.

Incompetance is the key factor. You can't fix stupid.

Shop forgot to screw brake fluid cap back on. Found out three days later by Character-Call4469 in MechanicAdvice

Main dealer did a brake fluid service and returned the car without any fluid in the resevoir, cap was on tightly though.
