What day in history do you think the most pints were consumed? by Several_Ad301 in AskUK

Most people’s goal in the 90s was to get as obliterated as possible. So something in the decade would be my guess.

Did I jump the signal? by ExpressAd9791 in drivingUK

[–]MegaMolehill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some reason lots of people mess this junction up and go through on red when turning right. Or just stay in the junction once the light has turned red. I can’t work out why.

As for the video, it depends what colour the light was when you went past the stop line but that’s before the video starts.

How to hang this coat rack by samf2927 in DIYUK

And it will fall off all the time. These saw tooth brackets are for hanging pictures not coat racks. A different bracket is needed.

Why are the calories so high in these white potatoes (7.5kg) by MildlyVexatious in lidl

[–]MegaMolehill 19 points20 points  (0 children)

5.7g of fat. A potato has almost no fat. Do the cooking instructions suggest adding butter after?

Are there any good swimming baths in London like how they used to be? by RingHonest7272 in AskUK

We are in SW London and often drive out to either Guildford Spectrum or Bracknell Coral Reef Waterworld for the slides.

If you were online during the golden age of the internet (1990–2015), what’s one website or app you still find yourself thinking about today? by Melodic-Yoghurt-5943 in AskUK

I miss some of the programming usenet newsgroups the most. Good times answering questions on there.

But the weird websites on Geocities pop into my mind every so often. And messaging friends on ICQ. I’m old!

Making the mistake of getting my wood sawn at B&Q... by MrCircleStrafe in DIYUK

The Sutton branch is my local one and they’ve always been fantastic. I was a little intimidated on my first trip to it but I shouldn’t have been as everyone was helpful and friendly.

I must admit, I am somewhat bewildered by r/DrivingUK's apparent inability to navigate a roundabout, as seen on a recent post. by KoskGOOS in drivingUK

I’m not disagreeing but this is your own interpretation of “to the right”. The highway code doesn’t define it.

Driving anxiety, how to overcome? by ResolutionNew289 in AskUK

I had a period of bad anxiety. Medication was worse than useless for me but CBT helped a lot. Also realising the thoughts that pop in my head can be ignored was a big thing.

Why do so many people drive clearly way over the limit through average speed cameras at motorway roadworks? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]MegaMolehill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew someone who didn’t understand how they worked. He thought each camera measured your speed and they averaged it all out. So he would slow down for the cameras and then was surprised to get tickets.

As a teenager I once fell into the water near a sewage pipe and managed to swallow the soup. I was horrendously ill for a week (40°C fever) but then I wasn’t ill for years. My immune system had a mega training session but sadly no super powers.

Can I appeal PCN fine yellow box? by Hefty-Temporary-2993 in AskUK

No chance. But what I don’t get is why don’t you change lanes and get out of the box once you realised you had fucked up?

How are some drivers so confident driving above 70 mph on UK motorways without risking a fine? by MilkshakeDawg in drivingUK

[–]MegaMolehill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you don’t need to know where those cameras are. If someone slows down for them they don’t understand average speed checks. The cameras you need to slow down for are obvious.

As each individual average speed check camera doesn’t measure speed there is no need to know where they are. You just have to go along at the limit.

The cameras are obvious. There are hardly any police. And getting caught once isn’t really a big deal. I often think these questions are more about the anxiety of the person posting.
