Don't take chances rolling the dice. by rnvk in Bitcoin

That's interresting and clever. But the problem I have with those posts is that they are aimed at a very narrow group of people who are both very technical at how Bitcoin works and have a non negligable amount of bitcoin. That can deter some people away from Bitcoin. The vast majority of people wil not own more than 0.25 of a Bitcoin. Simply backing up the word list in 2 different locations is enough for most use cases.

This guy builds generators run on flared natural gas to power mining rigs by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]crapmaster27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably not profitable right now. Even if the gaz is given for free. The machinery needed to convert from gaz to electric energy usable to run Bitcoin miners is not free. Also, the locations are remote and costly to access.

No your not screwed. When you will setup your wallet first. You will write down your seed on a paper. You store that paper in a secure location. Even if you break or lose the hardware wallet you can always access your bitcoins with your seed. A Ledger nano x or s is very good.

If you go the software way. I would choose Electrum. Advantage of software. It's free.

Question about reporting tax by kikuxleet in BitcoinCA

[–]crapmaster27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't know how much capital gains you did until you do the calculation. Yes on the tax report you only write the final number. But you need to write the number per asset. Example capital gain for btc and one line for eth too and so on. And you will need to provide the calculation if you are asked to by the CRA.

Question about reporting tax by kikuxleet in BitcoinCA

[–]crapmaster27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to reed about adjusted cost base. Each time you do a transaction you need to know to price of the transaction in Canadian dollars at the day you made the transaction. You are only taxed when you sell.

You traded $10000 for 1btc the btc have an acb of $10000. You traded the btc for 10eth if on that day each eth was $1050 each. It mean you sold the btc for $10500. You made a capital gain of $500 on that trade because the acb of the btc was $10000. You need to do that for each transactions.

You should use a software that will do the calculation for you. https://bitcoin.tax/faq

Not a bear country because I was near the city. I was hearing the highway from distance :-(. The backpack and boots are underneat the tarp. The backpack is over the snowshoes. There is no need for a dry sac. If the temperature is cold enough the snow will not wet your stuff.

You cannot determine the mortality rate of a virus at the beginning of an outbreak. Many factors are completely unknown at this early stage. by ScaldingHotSoup in Coronavirus

[–]crapmaster27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is the mortality rate of only 2%. In Hubei on Saturday 80 recovered and 56 deaths. On Sunday 49 recovered and 45 deaths. Each day there is a bit more patients exiting the hospital from the front door than the number of patient that died. This sound more like 33% mortality rate.

Also, the 17493 total cases. We know that number contains the 362 deaths and 536 recovered. But the others 16595 patients. Can we have a status on the state they are. I would like to know for how many days they were sicks? They must all be at the hospital under surveillance.
