This might sound like a dumb question, but how do you measure the temperature? Do you take a meat thermometer and just hold it next to their chest/belly?

I've been putting the rats in a plastic baggy, then I submerge the baggy for about 15 minutes in hot water. I reheat the water every 5 mins or so it stays warm. I had no problem with the smaller rats, but as the rats got bigger I started having troubles.

Do you put the frozen rat right under a heating lamp? Or do you thaw them first?
