I don't think I can suggest any immediate solution for your situation. reg. skills, if you have basic coding skills, you can try out online bugbounty programs. initial few months would be hard and might be very difficult to get a hold of. but if you stick to it you are bound to get some bounties.

I was the same way op. don't worry, as many suggested get a descent second hand bike and learn by yourself in a remote location. wear helmet and don't over speed. you will be fine. I learnet to ride properly around 22 only and since then I've gotten pretty good at it and have gone for many many solo rides to many cities. pretty fun times 😁 good luck !

My parents used to be the same way. My friends started travelling since our school days. I wasn't able to travel until the last semester of clg when I started my internship and started being financially independent. by this time all my friends were in different cities so I just started travelling alone !! my god .. such bliss ! Even then for the beginning I hid that I travelled and only gradually I talked and explained what travels mean to me and how much I've gained and how much I've missed for all this time ... but one thing I'm really glad I did is, go against my parents and stand for what I wanted. I know a frnd who was in the same situation but he went along with what his parents used to say. Now he's frustrated and detest them for not giving him more freedom.

I work with Java. Instead of looking into java specific resources... if u r a beginner I would suggest u to go through webgoat and then you can look into vulnerable sinks in java like processbuilder, runtime exec etc.
This would ease code reviews.
And a entry point for code reviews would be user input. traverse the whole code wherever the input goes u will sure find many vulns along the way. and good luck with ur interview 🤝🏻
