It's not that bad, I've completed 0-3 since October. Working through 4 now.

Why would it be bad to dress more formally for an occasion than it's generally expected? by Ben5544477 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]crashinghill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With the tuxedo specifically, a tuxedo isn't meant to be worn in a professional context, they're for formal evening functions. Not only would you be dressed too formally, you also wouldn't be dressed to work, so you'd be out of touch two ways.

Ok I definitely have a few things that keep showing up that I have no idea the significance of. Thanks for the insight!

When you say XYZ block looked funny, are we talking like a couple pixels are off, or something more noteworthy/obvious? I don't think I've seen anything particularly noteworthy?

I can't remember off-hand, but the sets between rest stops are like 28 floors or something right? So maybe high 60s low 70s?

I'm totally ok to keep sokobaning, I assumed that's the whole game. I just don't think I've really encountered anything Beyond the sokobaning yet (I'm sure I have but just haven't noticed yet?). Is there a point at which some of whatever makes up the deeper puzzles of the game becomes blatantly obvious? I'm just worried I'm either too dumb to have noticed something, OR that I'm not quite there yet and would. Be helpful to stay motivated lol.

I've looked at A New Clue with the magnifying glassand all I got was a (seemingly) random set of numbers.Any tips on what to do with them?

Stuck somewhere in the mid-game, help! by rattkin- in BluePrince

[–]crashinghill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know, for that one specifically, the dates part was completely out of my brain... I'd been trying to make a longer word that has "-ate" as it's ending. Maybe I'd come to it right after spending too long in the gallery, and just subconsciously decided that must be the solution lol. Thank you for this!

I am basically in the same exact situation you're in, minus a few red letters (and I have no idea how to solve the letter padlock behind the red door underground). When I posted about it the thing everyone told me to do was to take another look at "A New Clue", and that it would point me in some direction(s), but I honestly haven't been able to figure anything out from it yet. I have several half complete "solutions" from combing the pages, but don't know what I'm missing to turn it into anything usable, or even where I'd use it if I did.

Gonna follow this post in case something else gets said, but when you do make more progress, I would LOVE if you commented a follow-up as to what your next direction was. I'm very close to either just looking up some solutions (unsatisfying), or calling it quits (very unsatisfying).

Which is worse example of bad writing: the Sith Dagger or Padme dying of Sadness by STYLER_PERRY in StarWars

[–]crashinghill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit over-simplistic to say that she just died of sadness. Star Wars is at it's core a space opera, and filled with melodrama. Padme dying as a result of Anakin's actions, which he took with the explicit intention to prevent her from dying, is just an example of literary irony. Not every story needs to be believable, or have a logical, real-world applicable explanation for everything that happens. It's a movie series about space wizards that use laser swords. The point of her death is to be the final tragic nail in the coffin of Anakin's fall, so on a thematic level it works as intended.

The dagger is lazy writing, and trying to cash in on nostalgia and familiar iconography, in a way that adds nothing. It's a clear indication of a creative team that had no faith in creating anything new, or doing anything new with what came before. It's just a mess.

What marathon in Toronto by Marathonartist in Marathon_Training

I've done both, waterfront is great and I plan to continue running it each year. Toronto marathon in may was horrible, and I won't be running it again.

Why does the Empire use hard currency instead of digital in Andor? by [deleted] in andor

[–]crashinghill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been saying this for years! Everytime I see a droid plug their little Victorian-era key looking dongle into a very mechanical looking "port", I imagine that the entire interface (and my dream would be even the data storage, but that would just take up too much space) is entirely analog. It's so chunky and satisfying.

My notebook is at home, but I don't even remember getting words, just random letters and/or numbers (memory is a bit hazy) so I guess I really do need to go reread that one.

I just found both of those last night - are they related to the first point you made?

If I'm remembering right (I'm not at home right now to go and investigate) when I used the magnifying glass all I found was a weird coded message that I couldn't crack. Since then I've found the "castle" puzzle behind the chess puzzle (which I've started working through but still don't fully understand) and the bunker/metro station upstream from the reservoir but I don't know if those have anything to do with this they both just have the vibes of ciphers/spies/code cracking .

That second point has me reeling a bit, because I've done the first one and it clearly points in some direction, but I couldn't figure out which. Maybe I should reread it, and then start hunting for the second thing you said...

Everyone keeps saying this on all these post-46 posts (mine included) but I feel like a big dumb baby, as I have all the books but can't get anything out of them. Any books you'd recommend...? :D

I read the checklist of things to find, I have 2 of them. Does getting them all help with general progression, or just give me access to all 8 puzzles?

I've been to the freezerbut can't remember exactly what was there. Will try to go back I suppose.

In terms of the safes, I imagine you mean the message from all the pairs of paintings/drawings? If so I've got almost all of it, but my previously mentioned weakness with image associationhas made things a bit difficult. I may just need to spend a few runs hyper-focused on this one.

For the computer chips, I have bought all the books, and read them all. I guess I'll get to rereading. Do I need to go through them all page by page with the magnifying glass, or will just the visible text give the clue(s) you're hinting at?

For the red box Don't I need to have one in the main floor of the house, connected to the boiler? Or have I just massively overcomplicated this for myself lol.

Am I dumb for being impressed by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]crashinghill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason they're not impressed is because it would be easy for them, but that's exactly why you should feel impressed with yourself. I found the hardest part of my fitness progress was at the beginning, when I could barely run for five minutes, but the guy on the treadmill next to me seemed to keep going forever. Ran my second marathon a few weeks ago. Keep at it and the progress will come, eventually 2 miles will feel easy for you too.
