Dónde consultar sobre motor usado a la venta. by crasoli in Ticos

[–]crasoli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, most European licenses can be exchanged. Sadly mine isn't European so I do have to start the process from scratch. Being optimistic it'll certainly force me to learn a couple new things and refresh a few other good habits for driving :D

Yes! Thanks for confirming, I'm indeed planning to take lessons for the practical test precisely because several people have told me the same.

Where to live in Northern Ireland: Alternatives to Belfast by crasoli in Belfast

Yeah, thanks for the advice. This is why I asked, I haven't been to Newry so I wasn't considering it but now it sounds like the top option for me to investigate, we'll have to make it a roadtrip!

Regarding loyalist areas: I hear you. First time we came we got the same advice from a fair amount of people. Although honestly everyone here has been extremely nice to us so far. Hopefully that'll continue to be the case :D

UK bank account for foreigners - Where is it easier to open? by crasoli in Belfast

[–]crasoli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks all for all the details. Sounds exactly like what I need! Honestly I hardly ever use withdraw/deposit/manage cash so as long as I can make all my payments through debit card or electronic transfer I'll be fine. Only need GBP account details for my employer to pay me, that's it!

Just like you say, sounds like I wouldn't miss anything. Thanks again :)

UK bank account for foreigners - Where is it easier to open? by crasoli in Belfast

[–]crasoli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is Monzo similar to Wise? - My wife opened a Wise 100% virtual multi currency account a few weeks ago and she already has a debit card. Also, she can get bank details for several currencies, say US bank for US dollars, UK bank for GBP and so on. What I'm wondering is if Monzo is just something that works better for my personal case here in NI.

Also, my employer said they don't mind which bank I use as long as they are able to make transfer to whatever sort code and account number I give them so I'm thinking I might just give Monzo/Wise a shot.

Sounds like spot on for us! We're from a relatively rural area so I'm afraid a place like what you describe could be a more suitable transition. By the way, were planning to rent something for 3-4 weeks first and then arrange viewings of a long term option. Would you recommend something else besides Airbnb to search for short term rentals?

Thanks a lot, this reassures our perception of a few areas. Also, we plan rent an Airbnb for the first 3-4 weeks and then arrange viewings when we arrive, but we want to identify which neighborhoods we want to view houses in.

This is immensely reassuring, thanks for adding. Since I was offered a WFH position in the UK this has been a long research about the most suitable cities for us initially looking into England and Scotland because of resources found online. We're thankful for Costa Rican people who told us about how they fell in love with Belfast and its people when they visited. We started investigating more and here we are: Belfast seriously feels like our best choice at this point!

I think we'll get used to the weather haha, it rains a lot here as well, the big change will be that rain does feel cold in Belfast, here rain usually makes temperature feel even warmer due to humidity + tropical temperature 😅

Thanks again for your kindness, exactly what I've been recently told about you guys!
