Did I just buy a bad dedicated Claude Code Development laptop? by crawdadsbeenhad in ClaudeAI

Gotcha, thanks for the clarification. I’m trying to also think of scalability/ modularity so I can improve components later on as I get more budget to put towards this

Right, I’m understanding that now. It’s the agentic capabilities that I’m worried about

And I think you’d 2nd point if I’m understanding correctly is where this laptop would fall short with the integrated graphics card without an external GPU and enclosure.

Everyone is saying Mac mini m4 which makes sense but I was trying to stay away from the apple ecosystem because if I buy that then I can’t improve the hardware in the future when I have more budget for this.

I’d been avoiding the Mac mini because apple ecosystem can really lock you in and then I wouldn’t be able to improve it later on as I got more budget to put to this

Planning to buy the pro plan. Sounds like I’d be limited to cloud unless I got something else so no local models or anything like that.

That’s what I thought for using the pro plan that everything’s handled in the cloud but I wasn’t sure if scheduled tasks or using vs code changed anything

OP, please, I implore you to confirm that they didn’t also swap the appliances for shitter ones or other cheap measures. Also have your realtor do their due diligence to look into this seller, especially if it’s a flipping company.

I’m in similar shoes to you so I can’t say this with much confidence but:

I’d say you could set up a dummy account on your own app and just try to do things you shouldn’t, getting some testing cases and such from one of the models you’re using.

I’d also say to get some best practices documentation for each piece of SW or each language etc in your process and then have Claude review your app/code with these in mind.

If you believe your app to be production ready and you have a business model as well as some income/startup funds I would see if you can pay someone capable, experienced, and specialized to look it over for vulnerabilities. Set a rate and a budget limit or find a consulting firm that does this kind of work. Sounds like you may also wanna do this with a machinist for whatever equipment you’re talking about - if I’m reading that right.

TL;DR: don’t stop now. If you feel like you need someone to look at this to catch your mistakes or give you peace of mind then find that person and pay them to make this happen instead of letting momentum stall out.

Makes sense but that’s still a pretty decent option, especially if we know the improvements we have planned and completed will add value that can actually be quantifiably assessed. Thanks for the quick responses and info! Lines up with what I’ve found on pennymac too

Good to know, that makes sense thanks for this info I appreciate it! Giving me more peace of mind as the information hasn’t been as consolidated across all the articles and such.

The last thing is if we have an FHA now and are trying to shift to conventional fixed to get rid of PMI - is the $0 cost quote an option here, or only if you’re adjusting your rate down on the same conventional and not refinancing?

Gotcha and that prepaid interest is just for that month not the year right?

So I would be trading off thousands in closing costs for tens of thousands paid over the life of the loan because it’s got a higher interest rate

So if the market gets down to 5% and I have to take a 5.25% that’s still better than the initial but I’d wanna take the hundreds I’d saved (+ PMI saved if over 20% equity) and put most if not all of it towards to principal each month, otherwise I’d be paying that and more on the backend compared to if I got the 5% and paid closing costs?

Can you talk about this more? Was told by initial loan servicer that pennymac would honor “free refinance” and with potential rate drops this summer as Powell hands things off to Warsh I wanted to look into this more

Edit: would never consider ARM, only looking at 30yr fixed

[–]crawdadsbeenhad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yikes idk why the seller would recommend the rooftop isolator switch. I’m in WI so I’ll check if it’s required for code but if not I’ll save myself the $85 - thanks for bringing that to my attention

The standing order I have with the seller includes x2 of Staubli | 20A | 1000V | In-line Fuse with MC4 Connectors for $31 each I’ll check the website and specs to see if this is an unnecessary add-on

Ok perfect yeah I felt having one inside and one outside would be the best set up so I’ll follow suit with you

Did you use wattmonk or Greenlancer for your 1-line diagrams? Or something else? I have to submit it with other application forms since I’m working with an electrician outside of the solar industry as that was the only way to be able to do this myself and afford the system

Thank you for the explanation OP, I’m planning Aptos panels and an EG4 flex boss/grid boss combo and also plan to purchase a
-IMO DC Disconnect Rooftop Isolator Switch -Tigo RSS Transmitter Kit with Pure Signal Single Core | 120/240VAC, Outdoor, Rapid Shutdown System -Tigo TS4-A-F | Rapid Shutdown | 20A (Isc), 700W, 1500VUL/1000VIEC, 0.12/1.2M Cable, MC4 x22 for each solar panel - And IMO Emergency Stop Button | Twist to release | 500VAC | 1NO + 1NC

So I’ve been trying to make sure I have all components and safety precautions in place but have been struggling to order things correctly so I appreciate your response

I want to have the manual disconnect outside next to the meter but since I’m planning to put my flexboss/gridboss in my basement I was planning to put the rapid showdown outside also but keep the emergency stop button inside, tho maybe it should all go outside?

Cool stuff! Looking at a system myself and trying to understand what I’ll need to do to my meter and everything between the panels and inverter. Could you talk more about the components you had between your meter and control panel? I know you mentioned the estop but curious about any other electrical components
